New month means new printable coupons and SavingStar offers

It's the start of a new month, which means it's time to print new coupons and load new digital coupons offers to your store loyalty cards.

This month, in particular, there seems to be a flood of new and especially good coupon offers.

Here's a sampling:

Smart Source coupons for the iPad

Smart Source -- a familiar name to generations of coupon clippers -- has gone mobile.

Long a staple of the Sunday newspaper experience, Smart Source coupons are now available on the iPad. No scissors required.

Called SmartSource Xpress, the app provides "magazines" of coupons for folks to page through, simulating that traditional Sunday morning experience.

But that's where the similarities end.

If you haven't yet signed up for SavingStar now would be a good time.

Wednesday deals (Feb. 15-21)

The big news at the grocery stores this week is Harris Teeter's Super Doubles promotion, which starts today and comes just as Lowes Foods finishes up its inaugural Super Doubles promo.

For a complete list of all the best deals during Harris Teeter's Super Doubles event, click here. I've got a comprehensive list tailored to Triangle shoppers, matching our store prices with the coupons we received here.

Beyond Super Doubles, it's a light week for deals, though there are a few bargains worth an extra trip to the store.

Among the deals that caught my eye:

  • Tribe hummus for $1.75 at Lowes Foods
  • Grapes for 99 cents per pound at Food Lion
  • Campbell's Chunky soup for 75 cents per can at Food Lion
  • Pizza dough balls for 99 cents at Harris Teeter
  • Pepsi 2 liters for 80 cents at Harris Teeter

Read on for all the highlights. For easy comparison, I've also included Sunday's Kroger deals at the bottom of the post.

As always, feel free to add any great deals you spot while you're out and about shopping. That way, we can all save more.

Wednesday deals (Feb. 8-14)

The big grocery news this week, of course, is the surprise announcement by Lowes Foods that it would offer its first ever Super Doubles promotion. Click here to read and print my good deals list. There are lots of freebies and other good deals under $1.

Keep reading this post for the very best deals at Harris Teeter, Food Lion and Aldi, along with other Lowes Foods bargains that don't require Super Double coupons.

This week, I especially like the $2.97 per gallon milk at Harris Teeter and the $10 per dozen roses and $1.39 per pound strawberries, both at Aldi.

I've also attached Sunday's Kroger deals to the bottom of the list to make comparison shopping easier for you.

Happy bargain hunting, and please post if you find a good deal while you're out and about so we can all save more.

It's Aug. 1: Time to update your coupon stash

Today's Aug. 1, which means it's time for a little housekeeping for those of us who tote coupon organizers on our shopping trips.

A whopping 286 coupons expired on July 31 so it's time to purge.

Once you've got that job done, there are 191 new coupons to file from the four inserts in Sunday's paper.

SavingStar: Coupon savings without the clipping

Hey couponers, there's another new way to save money - no additional clipping required.

Launched nationwide in May, SavingStar offers monthly coupons that you can link to your grocery and drugstore cards through its website. Click here to join.

SavingStar coupons differ from traditional coupons in two major ways: they're paperless and they are NOT automatically deducted from your grocery order.
