Watch the Durham Bulls play ball -- in HD!

Starting tonight, local baseball fans will be able call strikes and balls from their easy chairs with a little more accuracy.

The Durham Bulls announced yesterday that in conjunction with Time Warner Cable, all 53 of the team's local broadcasts will be available for TWC customers on High Defintion channel 1151.

According to Bulls General Manger Mike Birling, the team is one of only two Minor League teams to broadcast that many games in high definition.

Delta Air Lines signs deal with Durham Bulls

The Durham Bulls won't ditch their team bus.

Just in time for next week's season-opening games, the minor league baseball team announced today that Delta Air Lines will be their official airline for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

The partnership reinforces Delta's interest in the Raleigh-Durham market, said airline vice president Jeff Robertson.

Delta will install advertising on signs and scoreboards at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, and airline employees at RDU will wear Bulls hats and logos.

The Durham Bulls want you...to write a song

Have you ever attended a sporting event, winced at the cheesy music being played and thought, "Uh, I could do better than this"? Well, here's your chance to prove it: The Durham Bulls are looking for a theme song from a local artist. In addition to being under three minutes, it should "convey the excitement and energy of Durham Bulls baseball."

Not surprisingly, they're not offering payment, which I'm not crazy about. But it would be priceless exposure. Entry deadline is March 14. So take a listen to this for inspiration, and scope the details here.

(Thanks, Glenn.)

At the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Saturn drivers are out and Kia drivers are in.

Saturn dealerships are shutting down in advance of the October deadline imposed by General Motors for the end of the Saturn brand. As a result, the Bulls needed to find a new parking sponsor for the 2010 season and found it in Univesity Kia.

The team will provide a reserved parking area for Kia drivers. People driving Kia vehicles to Durham Bulls games will also receive free parking in all premium parking areas, including parking decks and surface lots.

And, even if you don't drive a Kia, University Kia is offering a free parking pass for an upcoming game to the first 100 people to visit its Web site.

Sonnanstine to take mound for Bulls

DURHAM — Andy Sonnanstine will start for the Durham Bulls tonight, his second start here since being demoted by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Sonnanstine was the odd man out when ace Scott Kazmir came off the disabled list, as the team had no options left on Jeff Niemann and didn't want to demote lefty prospect David Price, who had been hit around badly by the Philadelphia Phillies.
