Deal Alert: Milk for $2.79 a gallon this week

Need milk?

Starting today and continuing through Saturday, Feb. 4, milk is $2.79 a gallon at Walgreens.

These days, any time you can find milk for under $3 a gallon, you've scored a good deal so $2.79 is a pretty terrific price and the lowest price in Triangle stores right now...at least that I know of.

If anyone out there knows of a better price, please share!!

There's no coupon required at Walgreens, but you are limited to two gallons.

If your Walgreens happens to be out of milk -- and it's bound to happen at this price -- be sure to get a rain check.

Kroger offering daily digital deals

Each day through Feb. 4, Kroger is offering a deal of the day in the form of a digital coupon.

You can see all the scheduled deals now but you must return to the Kroger.com site, log in and load the digtal coupon onto your loyalty card each day you're interested in a coupon.

Some of the deals are just so-so, but a few of them are for items that rarely, if ever, have coupons.

Better than FREE at CVS: Carmex lip balm

With the right coupon, CVS will pay YOU to buy Carmex Moisture Plus lip balm this week.

Here's how:

The lip balm, which is regularly priced at $3.39, is on sale for $1.19 this week.

Use the CVS coupon for $1.50 off that has been printing at the CVS coupon kiosk.

In-store tip: Buy a little something extra to cover your 31-cent surplus because the register is automatically deducting the full $1.50.

I always say free is my favorite price. But getting paid to shop is even better.

Get up to $200 in FREE groceries at Harris Teeter with new pharmacy deal

UPDATE: Many folks are reporting that Harris Teeter is restricting this program to customers who have not previously filled prescriptions at a HT pharmacy. This requirement is not spelled out on the punch card, which I gave to members of my coupon class. However, Harris Teeter does specify the requirement in this press release on the program.

Through April 3, you can qualify for a $20 electronic coupon each time you fill a new or transferred prescription at a Harris Teeter pharmacy. It's possible to earn up to 10 $20 credits for a total of $200 in free groceries.

The $20 coupon is loaded on to your cusotmer loyalty card and is deducted from your next purchase. Just a heads up: You can't stop the credit from coming off your order so be prepared to spend at least $20 once you fill a presciption.

Daily deal benefits Wake Forest boy battling cancer

The daily deal site Plum District is offering up a deal today that benefits a Triangle child battling cancer.

The deal is $15 for one dozen gourmet cupcakes from the Sweet Treat Boutique in Wake Forest. The regular price on the cupcakes is $33 -- a 55 percent savings.

The voucher, which is good through July 14, allows you to customize our cupcakes, choosing among six cake flavors and eight buttercream icing flavors. Click here for all the details on the deal.

Proceeds from the Plum District deal are being donated to a Wake Forest boy by the name of Harrison who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. You can read more about Harrison here.

Give Chipotle gift cards and you get free food

Chipotle restaurants are offering customers an incentive to buy gift cards for the holidays -- free food on your next visit.

For every $30 you spend in Chipotle gift cards, you'll get a free burrito, burrito bowl, salad or order of tacos.

But whatever you do, keep your receipt! That's your ticket to your free food. You must present the receipt of your gift card purchase to eat free.

The deal is good through Dec. 31. And you have until Jan. 31 to get your free burrito.

CVS deal alert: Scan your card for free shampoo

Lots of CVS shoppers are reporting that the drugstore's coupon machine is printing out a $2/2 coupon on shampoo, conditioner and styling products this week.

There are lots of possibilities for this coupon. Since it's a store coupon, you can stack it with two manufacturer's coupons to make yourself a better deal on a favorite brand.

If you're interested in scoring a couple of freebies, check the travel section for trial size shampoo or conditioner.

Or you can pick up two full-size bottles of VO5, which is on sale this week for 82 cents each.

Even if you don't care for VO5 products, consider purchasing it for donation to your favorite charity.
