A way to score cheaper gasoline

With gas prices in the Triangle hovering at about $3.75 per gallon, Kroger has got perfect timing on its gasoline rewards program.

Now through April 7, you can score yourself up to $1 off per gallon much more quickly with enhanced fuel rewards.

Here's how the promotion works:

Score Kraft Homestyle Mac & Cheese for a dime with this printable coupon

There's a great printable coupon available right now for .75/1 Kraft Homestyle Macaroni & Cheese dinner.

This will pair nicely with the Kraft deal that Harris Teeter is offering this week.

Mix and Match Kraft promotion: Buy any five participating products for $8, which ends up being $1.60 each. (Regular price: $2 each)

Using two of these coupons, you'll pay just 10 cents each for two of your five items!

UPDATED: Food Lion Double Coupon good deals list

Food Lion kicks off a two-week-long double-coupon event at 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 7 -- the very first time the chain has offered to double the value of coupons in the Triangle.

To give you a head start on your savings, I've compiled a list of good deals based on regular prices. And I've added a few more with confirmed new sale prices, thanks to the good folks over at AFullCup.com where the ad is posted.

I walked the aisles of the Food Lion on Williams Street in Apex, matching those prices to current manufacturer coupons we've received here in the Triangle, along with readily available printable coupons to come up with the list.

In some instances, I've noted potential deals on items that are currently on sale. Unfortunately, Food Lion's shelf tags don't indicate if a sale is continuing so some of the deals won't be certain until Wednesday morning.

I'll add more deals as I spot them. And please feel free to add any deals that you've discovered so we can all save even more.

I've included a list of Food Lion's double coupon guidelines at the very bottom of the post.

One last thing: Remember, this is Food Lion's first experience with doubling coupons in our area so be patient with your cashiers and managers.

Now on to the deals:

Deal alert: More cheap milk this week

If you need to make a milk run this week, two Triangle stores have great deals.

At Lowes Foods, milk is on sale for $2.88 per gallon. There's a two-gallon limit and the sale runs through Tuesday, Feb. 28.

And at Walgreens, gallons of milk are just $2.79. Walgreens also has a two-gallon limit.

With regular prices for milk at $3.79 and up at area stores, these are clearly great prices.

Deal alert: Cheap milk and bread this week

Coupons and deals on snack foods or cleaning products are great, but there's nothing better than saving on staples like milk and bread.

This week, Triangle shoppers have got the chance to save big on both.

Deal alert: Organic chicken sale at Whole Foods

Whole Foods has got an outstanding sale this Friday on organic whole chickens: $1.99 per pound.

The one-day-only sale is on fresh certified organic whole chickens.

Limit 10 chickens per customer.

Freebie alert: A FREE Redbox rental for your Valentine

Looking for a way to do Valentine's Day on the cheap?

Redbox wants to help you woo your Valentine with a FREE movie rental.

Head over here to the Redbox Facebook page and send your sweetie a love note with a code for a free standard movie rental. The code is good all day Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Have more than one Valentine? Send as many as like to all your friends and loved ones who are on Facebook.

At long last, a deal on Quaker oatmeal

Deals on Quaker oatmeal don't come around very often and coupons for the healthier Quaker products make only extremely rare appearances in the coupon cycle.

So if you're a fan of Quaker products, you'll love this new deal. No clipping required.

WalMart offers deal on Kindle Fire

WalMart is offering the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet this week with a gift card incentive that essentially shaves $50 off the price.

On the front page of today's WalMart circular, the full-color 7-inch tablet is advertised at the regular price of $199, but it's bundled with a $50 WalMart gift card.

One of the hottest gifts of the 2011 holiday season, the Kindle Fire still sells for $199 on Amazon.com and other major retailers.

I'm wondering just how many Kindle Fires each WalMart store will have in stock. If you're interested, I wouldn't procrastinate.

Deal alert: Organic navel oranges for 79 cents per pound

It's not very often that you can use the words organic and cheap in the same sentence but check out this deal:

Today only, Feb. 3, Whole Foods is selling organic navel oranges for 79 cents per pound.

Considering that 99 cents per pound is a good deal on most regular produce, 79 cents per pound is a super cheap price for organic oranges.

These won't last long.
