UPDATED: Harris Teeter Super Doubles good deals list for the Triangle

Harris Teeter is starting off the new year with a Super Doubles coupon promotion. The savings begin at 7 a.m. today, Jan. 4.

Below is  a list of completely free items and good deals that you can score with coupons we received here in the Triangle. I also included good deals using printable coupons available on national coupon sites.

Harris Teeter Super Doubles

Harris Teeter's Super Doubles promotion will begin at 7 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday). The good folks at the national deals site Hot Coupon World have posted the advertisement and begun a list of good deals.

Click here to peruse the ad and check out the deals they have listed. It's a terrific way to get a jump start on planning your Super Doubles strategy. But keep in mind that some of the coupons mentioned may not have been distributed in our area.

Check back later today for my good deals list, using the coupons we have available here in the Triangle.

Sunday deals are up! (Jan. 1-7)

With an infusion of new coupons in Sunday's newspaper, the deals are starting to crank back up this week. I especially like the FREE Nivea lip balm and Skinny Cow candy at CVS, the FREE Triaminic at Walgreens and the 8-cent Softsoap at Kroger. Best of all, however, is the milk for $2.79 a gallon at Walgreens, which doesn't require any coupon at all.

Read on for a store-by-store breakdown of the top deals I spotted:

Four coupon inserts coming in Sunday's N&O

If you're a coupon clipper, it's time to celebrate.

Look for four coupon inserts -- two Smart Source, one P&G and one Red Plum -- in this Sunday's home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer.

There will be a total of 220 coupons with a face value of approximately $343.  And that's before every-day double coupons, which we're fortunate to have at Kroger, Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods.

And, of course, if Harris Teeter offers a Super Doubles this coming week as expected, the savings will be even greater.

As always, I'll have the coupon database updated and the best Sunday deals posted early tomorrow morning, about the same time your paper hits the driveway.

(Single-copy and State Edition subscribers may not receive all coupon inserts.)

Fast-food coupons in your mailbox

If you're a fan of junk food, you might want to check your junk mail this week before tossing it out.

Tucked inside the usual circulars were two small booklets loaded with coupons for Subway and McDonald's.

The McDonald's booklet contains 11 coupons worth about $38 in savings. Though not quite as good as the last booklet, which had coupons for completely free items, it does have several BOGO coupons and several more for $1 breakfast items.

The coupons are good through Feb. 19.

The Subway booklet contains three sets of four coupons:

  • Buy one 6-inch sub, Get one free.
  • $2 sub with the purchase of a 32 oz. drink.
  • $8 dinner for two (two 6-inch subs, two chips and two 21-oz. drinks).
  • $1 Mornin' Melt.

The expiration dates on each set of coupons is staggered throughout the month of January.

Wednesday Deals (Dec. 28-Jan. 3)

Lots of party foods are on sale this week at the grocery stores in anticipation of New Year's Eve gatherings, along with pork, corn bread and collard greens for New Year's Day.
My two favorite deals this week: FREE Mueller's 100% Whole Grain pasta at Harris Teeter and $2.97 per gallon milk at Kroger.
Otherwise it's a light week for deals but I have a feeling the deals might improve when a whole new set of coupons is released Sunday.

Read on for a store-by-store breakdown of the best bargains at Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Food Lion and Kroger.

Walgreens offers another set of mid-week deals

For the third week in a row, Walgreens released a set of mid-week deals on top of its regular Sunday deals in hopes of enticing holiday shoppers.

Here's a sampling of the bargains, many of them good for last-minute stocking stuffers:

UPDATED: Sunday deals: The Holiday Edition

With Christmas just a week away and Hanukkah even closer, the sales circulars are loaded with ads for toys, fragrances, candy and those as-seen-on-TV gadgets and gizmos.

Look a little closer, however, and you'll find plenty of real deals -- freebies and cheapies to fill stockings and help make your holidays more festive. I've highlighted many of them for you in this week's list of all the best deals at CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Target, Kroger and Kerr Drug.

10 gift ideas for the penny pincher on your list

Do you have a penny pincher on your holiday gift list? How about someone who likes a bargain? Here's a few can't-miss suggestions from the Centsible Saver. All these gifts will either save your frugal friend or family member a little cash or make the task of saving a little easier.

All but one of these gifts range in price from 99 cents to $13.99 so you can save yourself some cash, too. Your penny pincher would be proud.

Lowes Foods teams up with SavingStar to issue coupons on store-brand products

Here's some big news in the world of couponing, especially for Lowes Foods shoppers.

The Winston Salem-based grocery has teamed up with SavingStar to give digital discounts on its store-brand products. This is huge because coupons are most typically offered only on major manufacturers' brands.
