Thanks to everyone who posted their Harris Teeter Triples stories for a chance to win a $25 HT gift card.
I enjoyed reading your coupon success stories and commiserated with those of you who found the store shelves a little bare at times.
One of the more memorable comments came from a young Dad and college student who also finds the time to coupon. I have to tell you I love men who coupon.
I also appreciated the comments from a reader who recently returned from nearly six months abroad and another from an extended stay in Texas. Both said they were so happy to be returning to coupon-friendly territory. Both are great reminders of how lucky were are to have double coupons all the time and periodic Super Double and Triple Coupon promotions.
Ok, so now on to the winner, who was picked at random using random.org:
Memorial Day weekend is coming up and the supermarkets have some really nice bargains on all the fixings for backyard picnics. There are deals on ground beef, chicken, produce, paper goods, soda and ice cream.
At Harris Teeter, I especially like the Steamfresh veggies for 19 cents, split chicken breasts for 99 cents per pound and the Breyer's ice cream for $1.
At Lowes Foods, there's free Kraft barbecue sauce and Country Time lemonade or Kool-Aid mix, 20-cent Milky Way candy bars and Sun Drop soda for 25 cents -- all with a little coupon magic.
At Food Lion, be sure to take note of the 20-cent ears of sweet corn and green peppers for 69 cents each.
And finally, Aldi has lots of produce deals, including cantaloupe for just 99 cents each.
For easier price comparisons, I've added the Kroger deals from Sunday to the bottom of the list along with a few new Kroger deals from a new 4-day sale that begins Friday and runs through Monday. Most noteworthy: ground beef for $1.79 per pound and cherries for $3.99 per pound.
Keep reading for all the deals and coupon match-ups. And feel free to add the deals you spot as you're shopping this week.
A friendly reminder: Today's your last chance to enter to win. The giveaway will end at midnight tonight when Triples ends. I'll post the winner Wednesday morning.
Here's your chance to tell us how you did at Harris Teeter's Triples event. Go ahead and brag!
Your comment could be worth a $25 Harris Teeter gift card. Just think of the deals you could score with that in your wallet.
I'll choose one winner at random on Wednesday, May 23.
Office Max and Staples are both offering good deals this week on office suppies -- some as cheap as a penny after rewards.
At Office Max, 12-packs of legal pads, 12-packs of Post-It Notes, binders and 10-packs of storage boxes are all a penny each after MaxPerk Bonus Rewards, which means you do have to lay out the cash in advance. Office Max issues the rewards in the form of store credit.
Get more details and join the MaxPerks Rewards program HERE.
Over at Staples, take note of the coupon for $10 off a $75 in-store purchase in Sunday's circular. It's valid through Saturday, May 26. The coupon excludes HP and Epson ink and toner, copy services, gift cards and postage stamps.
Kmart is doubling coupons this week, but be sure to read the fine print or check with the store manager before shopping.
Customers may double five coupons per day and must be members of Kmart's Shop Your Way Rewards program.
You must spend at least $25 on grocery, beauty or health items before the coupons will double. Coupons up to $1 in face value are eligible for doubling.
Attention coupon shoppers, it's time for Round 2!
Sunday's new coupons mean there are new deals to score in the last three days of Harris Teeter's Triple Coupon promotion.
That includes at least one new freebie and nine more items under $1.
Below are the matchups I found. Please add any you find!
You can tell by the ads that summer is nearly here. There are deals on everything from allergy medicines to sunscreen and swim diapers.
Worth noting up front:
*CVS is bringing back its summer gas card promotion: Spend $30 in select products and get a free $10 gift card for gasoline. CVS also has great deals on Ocean Spray juice (how does FREE sound?), Pantene, Irish Spring, Pepsi, Suave and Purex.
*Rite Aid has a good deal on Xtra laundry detergent and Formula 409.
*Walgreens has free tampons and a great deal on mouthwash and the best deal on swim diapers among all the stores. It also has the best deal I've seen on milk this week at just $2.99 per gallon.
*And at Kroger, there are good deals on produce, Greek yogurt, Breyers ice cream, Kroger cheese slices and All laundry detergent. Kroger has also brought back its enhanced fuel rewards, rewarding you with cheaper gasoline when you buy gift cards.
The News & Observer's coupon database has been updated with all of Sunday's new coupons.
The home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer contains two inserts -- one Smart Source and a Red Plum -- for a total of 134 coupons with a face value of nearly $150.
Be sure to snag the coupon for a FREE Cherry Berry Chiller from McDonald's that's in the Parade magazine, along with another coupon for $1 off a medium or large McCafe frozen strawberry lemonade, frappe or smoothie.
Not familiar with the coupon database? You can access it on the right-hand side of the blog. There's a button at the bottom right to view it as a full-size page.
Or, you can download it as an Excel spreadsheet by clicking on the attachment at the bottom of this post.
It's a handy tool, listing every coupon we receive in the Triangle in the Sunday N&O.
