Half-price coupon books available on N&O's ZONE

If you're on the hunt for great gift ideas, here's one that's a good deal for the giver and the receiver.

The ZONE, which is the N&O's subscriber rewards program, sells coupon books for half price. Shipping is free.

Regularly $20 to $25, the 2013 Attractions Dining and Value Guide is 50 percent off for home subscribers.

And that includes Sunday-only subscribers.

There are coupons for restaurants of all price range, as well as coupons for local and national retail stores and entertainment venues. My favorite is the coupon for $5 off a $20 purchase at CVS.

Six different versions of the book are available through the N&O:

Freebie alert: Coupon for a free toy in Sunday's Smart Source insert

A big heads up for folks who are buying toys this Christmas.

There's a coupon in today's Smart Source insert for a free Hasbro building toy valued at up to $3.49.

The coupon says "Get one (1) FREE Kreon Micro-Changers Figure."

The advertisement says these toys are compatible with other brands of building sets, which leads me to believe they will work with Legos.

Three coupon inserts coming in Sunday's N&O

Look for three coupon inserts -- one Smart Source, one Red Plum and a Target insert  -- in this Sunday's home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer.

Also, don't forget to look in Parade magazine this week. You'll find two coupons there to clip.

That adds up to 168 coupons with a face value of more than $170 -- and that's before every-day double coupons, which we're fortunate to have at Kroger, Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods.

As always, I'll have the coupon database updated and the very best of the drugstore and Kroger deals posted early Sunday morning. That way, you'll have the most complete and up-to-date coupon information for the Triangle at your finger tips.

Please note: Single-copy and State Edition papers may not contain all coupon inserts.

One coupon insert coming in this Sunday's N&O

It's a one-insert Sunday, coupon clippers.

Look for one good-sized Smart Source in this Sunday's home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer.

There are about 70 coupons with a face-value of about $100 -- plus a rebate and a few extra coupons in the Parade magazine.

As always, I'll have the coupon database updated and the very best of the drugstore and Kroger deals posted early Sunday morning. That way, you'll have the most complete and up-to-date coupon information for the Triangle at your finger tips.

Two coupon inserts coming in Sunday's N&O

Look for two coupon inserts -- one Red Plum and one Smart Source -- in this Sunday's home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer.

Both inserts are hefty in size and have some pretty terrific coupons that we haven't seen in awhile.

All together, there will be 187 coupons with a face value of more than $170 -- and that's before every-day double coupons, which we're fortunate to have at Kroger, Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods.

Hallmark offers coupon for $5 off $10 purchase

Here's your chance to snag some deals on full-price merchandise at Hallmark stores.

The Hallmark Facebook page is offering a coupon for $5 off a $10 purchase at any Hallmark Gold Crown Store. There's a limit of one coupon per customer.

Rare coupon on Gold Medal Flour available

Coupons for Gold Medal Flour are a rare find.

So it was pretty exciting to see a printable coupon show up on the Gold Medal Flour Facebook page.

The coupon is good for 25 cents off one bag but should double at Kroger, Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods.

And with any luck, we'll see a good sale among all the holiday promotions.

If you're interested, print this coupon now before it disappears. It likely won't show up for another six months.

Sunday drugstore deals, Nov. 4-10

You can tell the holidays are looming because the drugstore circulars are filled with sales on holiday candy, toys and decor, but not everything that's on sale is a deal. Among the better holiday-related deals I noted this week:

  • Buy 1, Get 2 Free holiday gift bags and boxed cards at Rite Aid.
  • $2 Hershey's Holiday candies at CVS. But, if you can hold off, these will probably go lower.
  • Holiday toys and decor are BOGO at Rite Aid.
  • 88-cent boxes of candy canes at CVS.

Also noteworthy this week: FREE Glade Scented Oil Warmers at Rite Aid, 24-cent Crest toothpaste and mouth Rinse at Walgreens, 49-cent Scope at Walgreens, $2.99 per gallon milk at Walgreens, a nice Carmex deal at CVS, soda deals at all three drugstores and Starbucks Refreshers for 50 cents at Walgreens.

Keep reading for all the best deals at CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens.

Database updated with Sunday's new coupons

The News & Observer's coupon database has been updated with all of the new coupons.

This Sunday's home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer contains two inserts -- one Smart Source and one Red Plum -- for a total of 130 coupons with a face value of more than $130.

That's before every-day double coupons -- not to mention Super Doubles, which is ongoing at both Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods this week.

Not familiar with the coupon database?

You can access it on the right-hand side of the blog. There's a button at the bottom right to view it as a full-size page.

Or, you can download it as an Excel spreadsheet by clicking on the attachment at the bottom of this post.

It's a handy tool, giving you the most timely and detailed list of coupons in the Triangle.
