Coupon database updated

The News & Observer's  coupon database has been updated with all of Sunday's coupons.

This home-delivered Final Edition of The News & Observer contained three inserts -- one Smart Source, one Red Plum and a rare mid-month P&G -- for a total of 151 coupons with a face value of about $170.

That's before you double the first coupon, of course, which we have the opportunity to do every day of the week at Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods.

Not familiar with the coupon database? You can access it on the right-hand side of the blog. There's a button at the bottom right to view it as a full-size page.

Or, you can download it as an Excel spreadsheet by clicking on the attachment at the bottom of this post.

It's a handy tool, giving you the most timely and detailed list of coupons in the Triangle.

Buy a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts, get another dozen free

Here's a great deal for Krispy Kreme Doughnut fans: a rare coupon for a free dozen Original Glazed Doughnuts when you buy a dozen.

The deal is good this Sunday, April 28, only, which the folks at Krispy Kreme are calling Hero Appreciation Day.

Updated again! Lowes Foods Super Doubles freebies and good deals list

Here's a long list of freebies and good deals available at Lowes Foods' upcoming Super Doubles coupon event, April 24-30.

There are at least a half-dozen freebies and nearly two dozen deals for $1 or less.

As always, there will be even more deals that surface once we all hit the stores so please share any new deals you run across by leaving a comment on the blog.

Happy shopping!

A coupon and a rebate on propane -- just in time for grilling season

With the warmer weather, more folks are grilling out so it's great to see a coupon and a rebate on propane.

You can save up to $6 when you exchange or purchase an AmeriGas propane tank.

Enter to win two freebies over on the Mouthful blog

My colleague, food writer Andrea Weigl, has got a couple of nice freebies she's giving away over on her blog, Mouthful.

First up, she's got a coupon up for grabs for a free package of SeaPak seafood. It's worth up to $7.99.

And second, she's giving away a $31 gift card to Baskin Robbins.

Rare printable coupon on fresh pork

Heads up on a rare coupon on fresh pork available for printing.

Sign up for an account at the website, PorkBeInspired.com, and you'll instantly be prompted to print a coupon for $1 off any fresh pork.

I just printed mine and the expiration date is April 1, which means plenty of time to use it at a Harris Teeter Super Double coupon event.

Coupons on fresh meats don't come along very often so take advantage of the savings.

New coupon = free Valentine's Day chocolate

There's a hot coupon available on the Lindt Chocolate USA Facebook page -- $3 off a bag of chocolates.

Snag it before it reaches its limit and disappears.

Then take it to Rite Aid, where Lindt Lindor truffles are on sale this week for $2.99.

That's free chocolate.

Or take it to CVS, where the Lindt Lindor truffles are $3.50 for some chocolate on the cheap.

Either way, it's perfect timing for Valentine's Day.

Coupon alert: .75/1 Johnsonville sausage in today's Relish magazine

There's a bonus coupon in today's N&O.

Look for it in Relish magazine, an insert in Wednesday's News & Observer print edition.

You'll find the coupon, which is good for 75 cents off one package of Johnsonville's Premium Cooking Sausage, on page 5 of the insert.

The coupon expires June 1.

I've added it to the coupon database, which you can download with the link provided on this post.

Wednesday grocery deals, Feb. 6-12

Each of the Triangle's grocery stores has its share of excellent deals this week.

Harris Teeter has free Smart Balance Spread and South Beach Diet bars, along with great deals on organic yogurts, Earthbound Farm organic salad, Jolly Time popcorn, Johnsonville Chicken Sausage, Steamfresh veggies and Sea Pak frozen seafood.
You can also pick up milk for $2.97 per gallon, a very nice deal.

Lowes Foods has a gift card promotion that rewards you with a $5 discount off your next shopping order and a nice deal on Hallmark greeting cards. You'll also find good deals on strawberries, Duncan Hines Red Velvet cake mix for just 25 cents, split chicken breasts for 99 cents per pound and Eggland's Best eggs for $1.30 per dozen.
The Fresh Rewards E-Offer is especially good this week: $2.99 after coupon for 12 rolls of Scott's Extra Soft toilet paper.

Food Lion also has a gift card promotion running this week, giving you a $10 discount on $50 in gift cards. You must purchase an additional $10 in groceries to get the deal but a 20 percent discount on gift cards is a very generous offer.
Food Lion has also got good prices on cantaloupe, spiral sliced ham and bone-in chicken breasts.

At Aldi, you'll find some great prices on produce -- $1.29 for pineapple and cantaloupe, strawberries for $1.49 per pound and a five-pound bag of grapefruit for just $1.69.

Keep reading for a long list of this week's top deals at Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Food Lion and Aldi -- with and without coupons.
