Defense and aerospace manufacturer is moving HQ from New Jersey to Durham

Emrise Corporation, a manufacturer of electronic devices for the defense and aerospace industries, said today it is relocating its corporate headquarters from Eatonton, N.J to Durham.

The company's headquarters will be located at 2530 Meridian Parkway. Emrise officials could not be reached for comment today.

The move comes just days after Emrise completed the sale of its subsidiary, Advanced Control Components, which was based in Eatonton.

The company said it chose Durham because it considers North Carolina a business-friendly state.

"We are locating the company's headquarters in North Carolina because we believe it to be a business friendly state, particularly for Emrise," CEO Carmine T. Oliva said in a statement. "We also felt that remaining on the East Coast would keep our headquarters in a location central to our domestic and international operations and to our principal markets in North America and Europe."

Founded in 1983, the Company operates out of facilities in the United States, France and the United Kingdom.

Emrise had 307 employees at the end of 2009, according to company filings.
