Lawson is ACC player of the year

Voting tallies for player, coach, defensive honors

North Carolina junior Ty Lawson has been named the ACC's player of the year, the school announced Tuesday afternoon. Lawson beat out Florida State's Toney Douglas by four votes.

He is the first point guard to win the award since UNC's Phil Ford in 1978.

N&O All-ACC votes

The All-ACC teams will be released later this afternoon. Members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association vote on the three teams, freshmen teams and other honors in the league.

Here are Luke DeCock's and Caulton Tudor's All-ACC votes (Robbi Pickeral, Ken Tysiac and J.P. Giglio did not vote for these awards):
