Target's Halloween clearance hits 90 percent

I'm hearing reports that the Halloween clearance section at Target has hit 90 percent off today.

That's a bargain hunter's dream come true. Click HERE to read my post on turning Halloween clearance into year-round savings.

But be sure to scan your items before you check out.

Not all stores are displaying the 90 percent off signs.

And not all Halloween merchandise is 90 percent off. The candy, for instance, is lingering at 50 percent off.

If you score any good deals at Target, please share in the comments section.

Tips for turning Halloween clearance into year-round savings

Halloween's over, which means it's prime time to haunt those clearance aisles.

In the coming days and weeks, check the markdowns at Target, WalMart, supermarkets and the drugstores.

Retailers typically start their Halloween clearance at 50 percent off before going to 75 percent off and eventually 90 percent.

While tucking away costumes, paper products and decorations for next year's celebration can save you plenty, here are a few more ideas for making the most out of Halloween clearance:

Old Navy offering 75 percent off clearance deal

Heads up, Old Navy bargain shoppers.

Starting Friday -- and possibly earlier -- the clearance section will have markdowns of up to 75 percent off.

Tips to score best holiday clearance deals

If you can stand the thought of shopping for next year's holidays, now is the time to score deep discounts on Christmas and Hanukkah items.

Between now and mid-January, prices on everything from artificial Christmas trees to Hanukkah gelt will be marked down drastically. Right now, most items are 50 percent to 60 percent off. But as the days go by, the discounts will get deeper -- as high as 90 percent, in some cases.

I know some shoppers who haunt the aisles of Target and the drug stores just waiting for those 90 percent off signs to go up.

Here are a couple of hints to get the most bang for your clearance buck:

10-cent sale at Dollar General

Dollar General has got a clearance sale going on this week with prices as low as 10 cents.

That's cheaper than garage sales, folks.
