What to Watch on Friday: Ugly Betty, Monk, and Chris Brown combo

Ghost Whisperer (8pm, CBS) - Melinda helps the ghost of a boy who says he was murdered by a police officer.

Ugly Betty (9pm, ABC) - Shakira and Christie Brinkley guest start as Mode goes on a location shoot to the Bahamas, where the Betty-Matt-Amanda love triangle explodes.

Monk (9pm, USA) - In the finale to the show's eight amazing seasons, Monk and Stottlemeyer close in on Trudy's killer. The larger issue may be Monk's fate. Will he survive last week's ricin attack?

White Collar (10pm, USA) - In the mid-season finale, Neal becomes a suspect in a clever jewelry heist, and Peter must decide if he's innocent, or pulling another con.

20/20 (10pm, ABC) - Chris Brown talks to Robin Roberts about Rihanna's recent ABC interviews.

Rihanna: Chris Brown beat me 'like he had nothing to lose'

A couple of hours before "20/20" broadcast the interview of singer Rihanna by Diane Sawyer, I was involved in a three-way, sometimes loud, discussion about the Rihanna/Chris Brown incident.

The guy in the conversation, who is a good guy, basically said that it was odd that Chris Brown beat Rihanna for no reason, thus suggesting that somehow Rihanna was at fault somehow, and then said that he thought it unfair that Chris Brown was still a pariah. He feels that we (society) shouldn't hold celebrities to a higher standard, and, I guess, in real life Chris wouldn't be having it so hard.

Again, this is a good guy. And I hope he watched Rihanna's interview because she addressed all his issues.

Rihanna talks about domestic violence on "GMA"

Well, Rihanna has a new album coming out.

So it's time to talk about her relationship with Chris Brown and the night that he beat her.

And while it feels a bit like she's exploiting her own pain for a hit, this clip shows she's got some important things to say. Unlike Chris Brown's chat with Larry King, she speaks quite powerfully. (Mr. Brown apparently gives it another shot in the new revamped Vibe magazine. He's got an album coming too.)

Chris Brown says little on "Larry King Live"

After starting my morning with a looking-darn-good, but sounding-awfully-creaky Whitney ("I never left") Houston, I ended my night by watching another singer on a kind of redemption tour.

Chris Brown, his mama Joyce Hawkins and his lawyer Mark Geragos appeared on 'Larry King Live' last night, not explaining what happened between Chris and Rihanna that fateful night.

Lord knows Larry tried. He pretty much asked the same questions for the hour, trying to get Chris to explain what happened that night and what set him off.

What to Watch on Wednesday: The Hoff sings, plus Chris Brown on "Larry King"

North Carolina Rising (8pm, UNC-TV) - A special compilation show highlighting some of the economic successes of rural North Carolina featured in the UNC-TV series "North Carolina Now." Look for reports on preserving coastal towns, revitalizing small towns, building for eco-tourism, and much more.

Larry King Live (9pm, CNN) - Larry interviews Rihanna-beater Chris Brown, who appears with his mother and his lawyer Mark Garagos. Apparently, Brown at one point tells King that he shouldn't really talk about what happened that night (then why is he on there??) and then tells King he doesn't remember what happened, and later (after seeing CNN clips) says he does remember what happened but he misspoke. He also refers to the events of that evening as "a blur." So I'm not sure what we should expect to "learn" here, but if you like trainwrecks...

America's Got Talent (9pm, NBC) - Speaking of train wrecks, David Hasselhoff will be performing on tonight's show. He will be singing (and hopefuly dancing!) a song called "Feeling Good."

Glee (9pm, Fox) - Fox is wisely repeating the pilot for
this very nice musical-comedy-drama about a high school glee club from the creator of "Nip/Tuck" and "Popular." You can also watch online. The official premiere is September 9.

A New YouTube Trend That's Just Plain WRONG!!!?!!!

I'm finding it hard to concentrate on churning out reviews today. This is mostly because I keep skipping over to YouTube and finding clips, one after the other, of a disturbing trend: shirtless, teenage brothas in a bedroom grinding to Chris Brown's "Take You Down."
