Updated Again! Harris Teeter Super Doubles freebies and good deals list for Sept. 12-18

Here's an updated list of bargains for Harris Teeter's Super Double coupon promotion, which starts at 7 a.m.Wednesday, Sept. 12, and runs through Sept. 18.

This update includes 11 freebies and dozens of grocery deals for under a dollar, along with a complete list of what coupons to use and where to find them. If it's a printable coupon, you'll find the link to that, too.

In addition to the deals from the sales circular, you'll find numerous unadvertised freebies and deals. Some of them are brand-new sale items not included in the weekly ad, some of them are items that continue to be on sale from last week and others are regularly priced groceries that end up a deal after coupons.

Keep in mind, the list is specifically tailored to Triangle shoppers, using Triangle store prices and coupons readily available here, either through newspaper inserts, magazines or Internet printing. No sense getting frustrated looking for a deal we can't get here!

Now on to the deals:

Sunday drugstore and Kroger deals are up (Aug. 26-Sept. 1)

I've scoured the drugstore circulars and Kroger ad and put together a list of the very best of this week's deals -- with and without coupons.

In the freebie department this week, you can pick up free feminine products at all three of the drugstores and CVS will pay you to purchase men's and women's razors! Other notable deals include Ghirardelli chocolate bars for as little as 33 cents, $2 Gold Medal flour, Gevalia coffee for $3, Heinz ketchup for 50 cents, Herbal Essences shampoo for 50 cents, Scope Mouthwash for 79 cents and Crest toothpaste for 24 cents.

You also have the option of earning up to $50 in free gasoline with a CVS gift card promotion.

Please chime in with any good deals you find so we can all save even more.

New Blockbuster Express code: $1 off 2 rentals

If a movie night is in your weekend plans, Blockbuster Express has released a new code good for a double feature.

Use the code: AUGUSTDVDS

Good through Sunday, Aug. 19, the code will take $1 off the price of two one-night movie rentals.

Turn Kroger gift card deal into cheap gasoline

I've written about this deal before, but it's too good not to mention again.

Starting today and running through Sept. 8, Kroger is offering quadruple fuel rewards, offering you a quicker way to score a cheap tank of gasoline or two -- up to $2 off per gallon at Kroger gas stations.

Here's how it works:

Using your Kroger loyalty card, purchase gift cards at Kroger for other retailers. A $100 gift card to Home Depot or Target or Macy's, for instance, will give you 400 fuel reward points, which amounts to a 40-cent discount on gasoline.

(That's double the normal discount.)

Head over HERE for tips and tricks on how to work this gasoline deal to your advantage and read how I scored gasoline for just $1.60 per gallon.

Updated: Harris Teeter Super Doubles freebies and good deals list

Updated with sale items that will continue through Super Doubles week.
Updated again with new sale items and unadvertised specials.

Harris Teeter's Super Doubles promotion, which begins at 7 a.m. Wednesday, is shaping up to be a pretty big event with numerous freebies and good deals.

Even better, several grocery items are actually moneymakers when you use a paper coupon along with a Harris Teeter digital coupon, which, by the way, is permitted by Harris Teeter's official coupon policy. You've gotta love it when you get paid to shop!

I've double-checked the prices using Express Lane, Harris Teeter's online shopping tool, and walking the aisles of my local Harris Teeter in Apex to verify shelf tag information.

I've also added deals from the new sales circular. (My thanks to HotCouponWorld.com for posting the ad early.) And finally, I've also included numerous unadvertised deals.

Keep in mind my list is specifically tailored to Triangle shoppers, using Triangle store prices and coupons readily available here, either through newspaper inserts, magazines or Internet printing. No sense getting frustrated looking for a deal we can't get here!

(For Super Double coupon shopping tips and Harris Teeter's rules during Super Doubles, scroll to the bottom of this post.)

Now on to the deals:

FREE movies at N.C. State campus theater

If you're looking for cheap entertainment, how does a free movie sound?

N.C. State's Campus Cinema, located in the Witherspoon Student Center, shows free and extraordinarily cheap movies on a regular basis.

And you don't have to be a student or faculty member to take advantage of the freebies.

Right now, the theater has several free showings of "The Hunger Games" scheduled:

Updated deal alert on cheap milk this week

Gotta love the continuing good deals on milk we're seeing in the Triangle.

Starting today, July 11, Harris Teeter is offering milk for $2.49 per gallon through Tuesday, July 17.

That's not quite as good as Kroger's $1.99 price this week but still a terrific price.

How I paid $1.60 per gallon for gasoline

On my last fill up, I paid $1.60 per gallon for gasoline.

That's not a typo.

While I was at it, I filled up my husband's tank and my son's.

All totaled, we paid $55.96 for 35 gallons of gas.

Just a few days ago, a reader asked me to name my most favorite recent deal and I would have to say this ranks at the very top.

It was most definitely a cheap thrill driving away from the pumps. After all, we haven't seen $1.60 per gallon gas in the Triangle since 2008, and then only briefly.

Working Kroger's fuel rewards program to your advantage, you, too, can fill your tank at a Kroger gas station on the cheap. Here's how:

Blockbuster Express codes = cheap summer movies

OK, it's not free, but it's cheap.

Here are two codes for BlockBuster Express movie rentals -- good through Sunday evening, June 24.

Both give you $1 off when you rent two movies.

Deal alert: Cheap milk this week

Need milk? You're in luck this week.

Most varieties of milk are just $2.69 per gallon at Kroger.

That's about $1 per gallon lower than any other grocery store in the Triangle.
