Tony Woodard of Four Oaks, North Carolina, won the Walmart Bass Fishing
League® Piedmont Division tournament on Jordan Lake April 4 with a
five-bass catch weighing 24 pounds.

Biffle wins BASS Elite tourney

Tommy Biffle of Wagoner, Okla., landed 50 pounds, 13 ounces of bass to take home $100,000 at the Evan Williams Bourbon Dixie Duel on Wheeler Lake in Alabama.

Bass anglers raise cash for kids

The Fishing For Our Kid's Future Bass Tournament was held March 28 at
Jordan Lake. The fish cooperated and over $3,000 was netted for the
Apex Rotary Club's Scholarship Fund and for school supplies for local
students.

The first Powers Swain Chevy Fishing Team Tournament for 2009 was held
at Jordan Lake on March 21. Eight teams competed out of the Ebenezer
boat access.

Speaking of bass....


Chris Wood had a career day on Lake Wheeler on the 18th.

The N.C. State senior landed a 9-pound, 7 ounce largemouth bass and followed, then topped that personal best with a 10-pound, 2-ounc toad (that's bassspeak for large fish) a little later in the trip.

He also had to identical 3-pound, 8-ounce bass to cap a four-fish stringer of 26 pounds and change.

Wood, a textile engineering major and member of the BassPack fishing team, used a 1/2-ounce football head jig in less than four feet of water to catch the fish.
