Goodwill opens new store in Holly Springs

A new Goodwill store opened today, July 12, in Holly Springs, the 36th store for Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina and the second store in Holly Springs.

Located at 925 Avent Ferry Road, the store opened with shoppers "lined up around the building," Goodwill spokeswoman Becky Lytle said.

Wednesday grocery deals (July 11-17)

Here are this week's grocery headlines:
At Harris Teeter, milk is just $2.49 per gallon, cherries are $1.99 a pound and there's a fantastic Meal Deal promo that saves you more than $10.
At Lowes Foods, there's a new set of three-week coupons on pet products, a new round of Bonus Fuel Rewards and ultra cheap prices on Truvia, Pop Tarts and Hot Pockets.
Food Lion has a new MVP Big Deal promo that shaves $5 instantly off your order when you buy select products. Look for 9-cent Old El Paso seasoning and ultra cheap Yoplait yogurt among the deals.
And finally, at Aldi, you can pick up peaches, plums and nectarines for 99 cents a pound and pineapple for just $1.29 each.
As always, I've included Sunday's Kroger deals at the bottom of the post for easier price comparisons.

Sunday drugstore and Kroger deals are up (July 8-14)

It's a pretty good week for deals at the drugstores and Kroger. There's free chocolate at CVS, free Zest body wash at Rite Aid and ultra cheap school supplies at Walgreens.

There's also a nice deal on Kellogg's and Coke products at CVS, a super sale on Garnier hair products at Rite Aid and an opportunity to score a free $25 gift card from Walgreens with a prescription transfer.

But the deal I'm most excited about this week: milk for $1.99 per gallon at Kroger. That's a price we haven't seen in the Triangle in a long time.

Wednesday deals (June 27-July 3)

Fourth of July sales are in full swing this week with deals on all types of picnic foods, from grilling meats and marinades to salad dressings and produce, along with plenty of snack foods.

While you're stocking up, be sure to collect your freebies and ultra cheap deals, which include free barbecue sauce and free Kool Aid or Country Time drink mixes at Lowes Foods, and cereal for as low as 7 cents a box at Harris Teeter.

Other deals of note:

At Lowes Foods, peaches are 97 cents per pound, Chex Mix is 50 cents per bag, pickles are 65 cents a jar and Ball Park buns are just 69 cents.

At Harris Teeter, there are several Buy 2, Get 3 Free deals, which make for some nice prices on hot dogs, shredded cheese, ice cream and chips. And sweet corn is just 25 cents an ear, which matches Kroger's price.

At Food Lion, the produce department has some excellent deals and chicken leg quarters are on sale for just 69 cents per pound in the 10-pound bag.

And, if you haven't tried shopping at Aldi yet, this week would be good timing. There are sales on produce, grilling meats, condiments and ice cream treats.

Sunday deals are up (June 24-30)

Free Bayer aspirin, free Suave shampoo, cheap toothpaste, cheap laundry detergent and dish liquid, 75-cent Pepsi 2-liters, 25-cent ears of corn and a fantastic deal on Coppertone sunscreen are among the headline bargains this week at the drugstores and Kroger.

Also worth noting: a free gas card promotion at CVS, a deal on camp physicals at CVS, and a new promotion at Kroger that takes $3 off your order instantly and gives you a $2 coupon to use on your next order.

And, of course, there's Round 2 at Harris Teeter Super Doubles, thanks to a new batch of coupons in Sunday's N&O. Be sure to read my separate post on HT's brand-new deals.

As I like to say, couponing is a team sport. So please post any deals you discover while shopping so we can all save more.

Sunday deals are up (June 17-23)

This week's a great time to stock up on freebies at the drugstores and Kroger. There's all kinds of free toothpaste available, as well as opportunities for free deodorant, free Dial hand soap and free shampoo. On a few of these deals, you'll even have the chance to make money.

Also be sure to check out the coupon deals on General Mills cereals, Heinz Ketchup, Mars candy, Schick razors and Pepsi products at CVS; Wonderful Pistachios, Tom's of Maine and Lysol wipes at Rite Aid; and eggs, Coppertone sunscreen and Starbucks coffee at Walgreens.

At Kroger, eggs are a great deal at 99 cents per dozen and milk is a terrific price for the second week in a row, this time $1.39 per half gallon for skim or 1 percent.

Sunday deals are up (June 10-16)

As Father's Day approaches, many of this week's sales are focusing on products that make good gifts for dads. There are deals on gift cards (save up to 20 percent), men's shaving products and men's fragrances.

There are also great deals this week on Pepsi 12 packs, Heinz Ketchup, Lean Cuisine entrees and diapers and baby wipes.

But my favorite deal of the week has to be Kroger's sale on milk: just $2.69 per gallon.

Wednesday deals (June 6-12)

Get ready to pocket some significant savings at the supermarkets this week. It's a great week for stocking up with some very nice bargains on produce, meats, cereals, butter, frozen veggies, pasta and many more items. At Lowes Foods, you can score cereal and frozen vegetables absolutely free. And all the stores have ultra cheap deals for $1 or less.
I especially like the price on peaches this week. For the first time this season, they've dipped below $1 per pound at both Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter. And Aldi has a fantastic price on whole watermelon at just $2.99.
Also worth noting:
Lowes Foods has issued on new set of 3-week in-store coupons. Remember to stack them with manufacturer coupons to save even more.
Food Lion has a fantastic gift card promotion, saving you 20 percent on the cost of a $50 card.
And finally, check out the unadvertised specials I included in today's list. I've matched them up with coupons to come up with some extra great deals.

Sunday deals are up (June 3-9)

Coming off a holiday week, the deals aren't quite as plentiful. Even so, there are several stellar bargains, especially at Kroger.

Cherries are $2.99 per pound, Turkey Hill ice cream is $1.99 and All laundry detergent is $1.99. You can stock up on Kroger frozen veggies for $1 a bag, Dannon Oikos Greek yogurt for 80 cents and split chicken breasts for 99 cents per pound.

At the drugstores, Rite Aid has a terrific deal on Dove chocolates for just $1 a bag and nice deals on Dial hand soap and Stayfree pads. At CVS, there are stand-out deals on floss (27 cents) and mouth rinse (74 cents). And at Walgreens, you can pick up several freebies, including free hair accessories, free nutrition drink and free acid reducer. Walgreens also has a nice deal on toilet paper, gelatin and seasonings.

It's stock up time this week on cereal, butter and eggs -- thanks to some great coupons aligning with some generous sales at Triangle grocery stores.
Plus, be sure to take advantage of several other great deals -- no coupon required -- on ground beef and produce.
As a bonus, pick yourself up a couple of free candy bars with printable coupons.
