Barcodes hitting 60th anniversary; inventor resides in Raleigh

October 7th marks the 60th anniversary of the invention that's made the supermarket line a little faster.

The barcode creator Norman Joseph Woodland has lived in Raleigh for decades. In 2004 Woodland told the News & Observer, how the idea came to him.
