As I mentioned last week, Bruegger's Bagels is celebrating its 30th birthday with a free bagel and cream cheese for customers next week.
The company is also sending its corporate chef, Philip Smith, on a tour of Bruegger's bakeries around the country to talk about about what goes on behind the scenes in the company test kitchen in Burlington, Vt.
On a stop today in Raleigh, Smith offered up a few suggestions on what to do with leftover bagels -- a great way to avoid wasting food and money.
Besides freezing bagels, Smith recommended using them as the main ingredient in breakfast casseroles, stuffings and bread puddings.
