Durham Culinary Book Club meets next Tuesday

Chapel Hill cookbook author Jean Anderson and The News & Observer food writer Andrea Weigl (that's me) will talk about cookbook publishing and awards at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Durham's Southwest Regional Library.

Anderson has written more than 20 cookbooks and been inducted into the James Beard Foundation's Cookbook Hall of Fame, a nonprofit named after the late cookbook author who championed regional American cuisine. Weigl serves on the foundation's cookbook awards committee, which oversees the yearly competition and choose which authors or books are inducted into the hall of fame.

The program is part of the culinary book club series at the library at 3605 Shannon Rd.

To find out other upcoming events as part of the library's culinary book club, call DeLois Cue at 919-560-8648. Or to see a list of all the library's book clubs, go to durhamcountylibrary.org/readers/bk.php.

UPDATE: Jean will be giving away several of her cookbooks at tonight's program. You have to be there to enter and win.
