Adam & Eve touts success after 1986 raid

Not many companies want to mark this sort of anniversary.

It was 25 years ago, on May 29, 1986, that law enforcement agents raided the Triangle offices of Adam & Eve.

The Hillsborough-based company issued a press release today describing the raid and thumbing its nose at the "Reagan adminstration's Meese Commission."

"Despite the government's attempts to shut it down, Adam & Eve has grown and flourished," the company wrote.

Founded in 1970 as a mail-order business, Adam & Eve is one of the country's largest and oldest sex products company. It now employs 375 people at its Hillsborough headquarters and is known for its employee benefits and philanthropic efforts.
