Eat, drink and help the Food Bank

Yelp NC Triangle and Eschelon Hospitality are hosting a party on May 19 to benefit the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.

From 8-10 p.m. at Zinda restaurant in downtown Raleigh, the party will feature food samples from all five of Eschelon Hospitality restaurants, free cider, beer and wine as well as entertainment by Head Over Heels performance troupe, Simple Bliss massage therapists and caricature artists.

The event is called Yelp Billionaires Club and is free and open to the public with a donation of two or more canned goods per person. Last year's event, raised 1,500 pounds of food, enough to provide 3,298 meals, according to Yelp senior community manager Christina Gates.

Zinda to open in Raleigh's RBC Plaza this fall

Zinda, a pan-Asian restaurant, is slated to open late this fall in the first floor of the RBC Plaza on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, according to Tara Zechini, the marketing director of Eschelon Hospitality.

The restaurant's concept is "a contemporary twist on traditional dishes from China, Thailand and India," explained Zechini in an email.

The company hopes to start construction in the next few weeks and open by late October or early November. They are interviewing for a chef right now, she says.

Eschelon Hospitality also owns and operates The Oxford, right next door to Zinda's future location; Sono, a few steps away; Mura in North Hills; Dapper Style House, a retail clothing shop with a full bar near The Borough. Zechini also mentioned that Eschelon Hospitality has just recently taken over the Cameron Bar & Grill in Raleigh's Cameron Village.
