Wine dinner tonight at Zely & Ritz

Carr Vineyards winemakers Jessica and Ryan Carr will be the guest speakers at a wine dinner at 7 p.m. tonight at Raleigh's Zely & Ritz. Spots still remain at the table. 

The five-course meal costs $49 per person without wine and $75 per person with wine. Call 828-0018 for a reservation. 

The menu includes tuna carpaccio with passion fruit sauce and a salad of green apples and orange zest, roast duck and cherry pie, slow roasted ham rubbed with black pepper and star anise and a lamb stew with spicy paprika. Each course is paired with Carr wines from Pinot Gris to Cabernet Franc. 

Chef Sarig Agasi also mentioned that they are doing a wine lunch at noon, Friday, March 26. It is a family-style lunch for $15 with wine pairings for a reasonable price. Agasi was such a salesman that I signed up for lunch on the 26th. So maybe I'll see some of you there.

Cheese dinner tonight at Zely & Ritz

Zely & Ritz is hosting a dinner tonight featuring the cheeses of Chapel Hill Creamery. The five course dinner starts off with puff pastry-wrapped Calvander cheese and NC apples, and ends on a high note with Pheta cheesecake Napoleon with dates braised in red wine.

Last chance to enjoy Zely & Ritz's anniversary tasting menu

Reminder: This is the last weekend to enjoy Zely & Ritz's five-course tasting menu for $75 a couple. This is the restaurant's way to celebrate its five-year anniversary.

The menu was chosen from among customers’ favorite dishes. Those include Mexican style shrimp ceviche, creamy butternut squash risotto with asiago cheese, pork loin with dried chery sauce and for dessert, one of my favorites, pine nut tart with honeycomb ice cream.

If you want wine pairings to go with your tasting menu, it costs an additional $30 per person. Call 828-0018 for a reservations.

Zely & Ritz of Raleigh is offering a tasting menu for $75 per couple starting tonight, Jan. 20 through the end of the month to celebrate its five-year anniversary.

Zely & Ritz wine dinner Thursday night

Raleigh's Zely & Ritz is hosting a wine dinner Thursday, Oct. 15th, (that's tomorrow) featuring the wines of Querciabella, an Italian winemaker. 

The five courses include warm baby arugula salad with lobster, peach sauce and toasted almonds then grilled pizza with roasted bell peppers, sausage, basil and fig preserves and wine reduction and then braised rabbit ragout with shiitake mushrooms and sweet potato gnocchi. 

The meal costs $79 per person, excluding tax and tip. To make a reservation, call 828-0018. 

 

Eno preview at Zely & Ritz this week

Zely & Ritz is hosting the new Eno chef Marco Shaw this week. He will be cooking Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday while Chef Sarig Agasi takes a vacation. So this is your chance to get a preview of the farm-focused Eno restaurant, which is months away from opening in Durham.

Chef Sarig Agasi will be offering free samples of gazpacho at this Saturday's Western Wake Farmers Market. Agasi's appearance is part of a National Farmers' Market Week celebration. Beyond the gazpacho, there will be a live jazz band and face painting for the children starting at 10 a.m.

Zely & Ritz Tomato Dinners

Zely & Ritz is offering a series of heirloom tomato dinners starting tonight. 

The five courses sound delicious and the dessert, a sun gold tomato panna cotta, sounds intriguing. Those tomatoes are like candy anyway. What a perfect idea for a dessert.

Call 828-0018 to see if you can still get a seat at 7 p.m. tonight. Otherwise there are heirloom tomato dinners on July 27, July 29, Aug. 4 and Aug. 13.

The cost is $49 per person or $79 per person with wine pairings.
