The Marlins of Raleigh-Wolfpack Aquatics, the YMCA of the Triangle Area and the New Wave Swim Team swept the top three spots in the N.C. Swimming Senior Championships held Thursday through Sunday at the Triangle Aquatics Center in Cary.

Submitted by teribb on 08/08/2010 - 22:40Led by the North Carolina Aquatic Club, teams from the Triangle swept the top six places at the Tar Heel States Swim Meet held July 30 through Aug. 1 at the Triangle Aquatic Club in Cary. NCAC, the host team, took first place with 3,070.50 points. Second place went to the Raleigh Swimming Association (2,808). Duke Aquatics (2,712.50) was third, followed by YMCA of the Triangle Area (2,280), the Marlins of Raleigh Swim Team (2,337) and Wake County's New Wave Swim Team (1,439). More than 600 athletes from 20 teams from across the state competed, assistant meet director Jack O'Donnell reported. (Team scores and high-points scorers are below.)
Record-setting Triangle all-stars lead N.C. Swimming in Zone Meet
Submitted by teribb on 08/03/2010 - 04:31Led by record-setting individual and relay performances from Triangle swimmers, North Carolina Swimming finished third at the Southern Zone All-Star Meet held July 27-Aug. 1 in Atlanta.
Tyler Silver, 12, of the Marlins of Raleigh swam to two individual meet and state records - one that stood for 20 years - and was on two relay teams that set meet records, and Christian Lam of the YMCA of the Triangle Area set one individual state record and was on the winning relays with Silver.
Triangle athletes swim to strong finishes at Peter Vanderkaay-led Charlotte Ultraswim

finishes and a variety of junior- and senior-nationals qualifying times
during the highly competitive Charlotte UltraSwim meet held Thursday
through Sunday and hosted by the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club at the
Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
In the top individual finish, Duke Aquatics' Ashley Twichell, 20, was
seventh in the women's 1,500-meter freestyle in 8 minutes, 53.54
seconds, a time that qualifies her for the U.S. senior nationals.
The YMCA of the Triangle Area's men's 400-meter freestyle relay team had the top finish among Triangle competitors.
