"Lying to Be Perfect": Not a complete fairy tale

It's interesting that Lifetime is airing the good-hearted "Lying to Be Perfect" (tonight at 9) because it's the same network that airs "Drop Dead Diva."

DDD is about a skinny girl who ends up in the body of a fat girl and learns lessons about inner beauty and size discrimination. "Lying to Be Perfect" starring Poppy Montgomery (Without a Trace) is about a fat girl with plenty of inner beauty but little self-confidence.

It's hard out there for a drama

Last week Adrienne informed us that my beloved Law & Order is on the JLN (Jay Leno Network) bubble. (That's on top of cancellations this season for Pushing Daisies, Life on Mars, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, Boston Legal, and others). Now we're seeing the same bubble stress for long-running CBS dramas, Cold Case and Without a Trace.

Why? They cost too much. Scripted dramas are fast-approachingĀ  endangered species status.
