Gruet wine tasting at Durham's Revolution Monday night

Durham's Revolution restaurant is offering a Gruet wine tasting Monday with four small courses for $40.

I learned about the Gruet winery at the Pinehurst Food and Wine Festival. (My sister and brother-in-law are very sweet and pay for me to go most years to the festival for a sisterly weekend.) The story behind Gruet is this: a French family who own a champagne vineyard and winery in France have children who relocated to New Mexico to produce sparkling wine. If you are a fan of bubbly, it is amazing stuff for a very reasonable prices. I have a couple bottles at home.

Monday's event includes tastings of the Blanc de Blancs Extra Dry NV, Blanc de Noirs NV, Brut Rose NV and Demi-Sec NV. The event is 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8.

To sign up for Monday's tasting event, call 956-9999.

Wine Tasting Sunday at Angus Barn

Angus Barn is hosting a complimentary wine tasting this Sunday from 3:30-5:00pm in the Wild Turkey Lounge. Certified sommelier Henk Schuitemaker and his staff will conduct the tasting. Reservations are not required.

This one promises to be exceptional. Schuitemaker is one of the most knowledgeable wine experts around, and the Barn's wine list has won the Wine Spectator Grand Award every year since 1989. Cheers!
