Duke's Snyderwine receives second team All-American honors

Duke junior kicker Will Snyderwine was named a second team All-America by the Walter Camp Foundation on Thursday.

Snyderwine, who was named a first-team All-America by the American Football Coaches Association, made 21 of 24 field goals this season and all 32 of his PAT attempts, amassing 95 points for the Blue Devils.

N.C. State's Wilson among ACC Players of the Week

N.C. State quarterback Russell Wilson and Boston College middle linebacker Luke Kuechly headlined a list of seven players honored today as the Atlantic Coast Conference Football Players of the Week.

Wilson was responsible for all four of the Wolfpack’s touchdowns, including a career-high three rushing TDs, as N.C. State rallied Thursday night from a 14-point deficit to defeat Florida State, 28-24. It's the third time this season that Wilson has been named the ACC's offensive back of the week.

A pair of Duke players, tight end Cooper Helfet and place kicker Will Snyderwine also drew top league honors this week.

After Duke scrimmage, there's competition at kicker

DURHAM – Duke coach David Cutcliffe said he’s not trying to create a kicking controversy, but after watching Friday night’s scrimmage, “there will be competition.”

Returning starter Will Snyderwine made only one of three field goals – making one from 32 yards, but missing from 30 and 38 – while senior Nick Maggio connected from 20 yards out, and missed from 55.

Duke's kicking game taking shape

DURHAM - Duke coach David Cutcliffe said earlier this week that his team's performance in the kicking game may factor significantly in Saturday's game against N.C. State.

"That may be the key element," he said. "North Carolina State is such as great return team - both kickoff and punt return - we're going to have to be at our very best in the kicking game."
