What to Watch on Thursday: Noah Wyle back in the ER

Survivor Tocantins (8pm, CBS) - The focus shifts from Grammy -- the Jalapao tribe targets Taj when they find out she's a Grammy-nominated former pop star and wife of Heisman Trophy winner and former Tennessee Titan Eddie George.

Grey's Anatomy (9pm) and Private Practice (10pm, ABC) -  Another crossover between the two shows -- because Addison just won't leave! Bright spot: Faye Dunaway guest stars on Grey's.

ER (10pm, NBC) - Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) drops in for his farewell trek through ER's final season. Watch him talk about 11 years of memories on the show.

What to Watch on Wednesday: Jack is untouchable

American Idol (8pm, Fox) - Nine people go home tonight.

Lost (9pm, ABC) - So, we're going back to the Island. Who's in?

Law & Order (10pm, NBC) - A rival for Jack McCoy's DA job uses the press to attack his reputation. Listen to me, Dick Wolf: Don't. Mess. with Jack. I mean it. If you write Sam Waterston (right) out of your revolving-door-of-a-cast show, I will snap up in this place.

Important Things with Demetri Martin (10:30pm, Comedy Central) - This is much funnier than the premiere episode last week, so check it out. The theme is "power." The rodent extermination commercial alone is worth tuning in for, but there's also a great skit in which two cowards fight over a parking space.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Either way, boobs abound

There is a whiplash warning in effect tonight. We recommend you start out with Frontline's 9pm examination of the global economic collapse, and then flip over at 10pm for the finale of Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo. But do so at your own risk.

Inside the Meltdown on PBS investigates the causes of the worst economic crisis in more than 70 years. Michael Kirk takes the viewer through all the banking problems and the $700 billion bailout. It's heavy stuff.

Over on Bravo, The Real Housewives of Orange County tackle important questions as well. For instance, should Gretchen (right) get fake boobs? Is Tamra really the hottest housewife, or is she just a sad, delusional old woman? Will Jeana snap out of her depression and divorce the abusive baseball player? What is Vicky using constant work as a substitution for? And can Lynne maybe, possibly, somehow tan more. By the way, this is the best thing I have read about The OC show.

Then after the RHoOC finale, there's the debut of the second season of Real Housewives of New York (11pm).

What to Watch on Monday: Bachelor fantasy night

The Bachelor (8pm, ABC) - Jason has culled the herd down to three women: Melissa, Molly, and Jillian. Now he takes them on "fantasy dates" to New Zealand (wait, helicopter rides, private concerts, mountain top picnics -- what have those other dates been!?). We all know fantasy date night is the night they really get to know each other.

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Chuck and Sarah go undercover in the suburbs where they encounter kooky guest stars Jenny McCarthy and Andy Richter.

The Medium (10pm, NBC) - In an episode directed by Patricia Arquette, Allison puts her family at risk investigating a 17-year-old murder.

What to Watch on Sunday: The start of an Amazing Race

Amazing Race (8pm, CBS) - The 14th installment of the popular CBS series begins tonight as eleven teams start from Los Alamitos, California, and head to Switzerland. The teams will travel 40,000 miles to nine countries in 22 days.

Desperate Housewives (9pm, ABC) - Despite having one of the most loathesome characters in all of television (Lynette Scavo), DH has been excellent this season. The five-year jump in time seems to have rejuvenated the writers.

Flight of the Conchords (10pm, HBO) - Jermain dates an Australian woman, which if you're a New Zealander, just. isn't. done.

East Bound and Down (10:30, HBO) - A new HBO series about a nasty, washed-up baseball player. This show has lots of North Carolina ties and has Will Ferrell as an executive producer.

What to Watch on Saturday: Too bad you can't live in a House of Cards

Hopefully everyone is busy lovin' up on someone tonight and too busy to watch TV because there's not much on. However, there is one show you should set your DVR for (and then watch much later, after your chocolatey cupid euphoria has worn off).  House of Cards (7pm, 10pm) is a superb two-hour special on CNBC about the global economic collapse. It's reported by David Faber, who takes an in-depth look at Wall Street and runaway subprime mortgage greed, and also interviews Alan Greenspan.

Other show times:
Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 9pm
Monday, February 16, 2009 at 6am/8pm/12am
Saturday, March 1, 2009 at 12am
Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 9pm

What to Watch on Friday: Sawyer on poverty in Appalachia

Friday Night Lights (9pm, NBC) - Are you watching the best show on television right now? Well, you can. 9 o'clock.

20/20 Hidden America: Children of the Mountains (10pm, ABC) - In a special two years in the making, Kentucky native Diane Sawyer takes a hard look at poverty in Appalachia. Much like her 2007 special, Waiting on the World to Change, which followed four poor families in Camden, NJ, Sawyer tracks four young Kentuckians as they struggle to make it in one of the poorest regions of the nation. These stories might be depressing -- it's never easy to see children without enough food to eat -- but they're important to see. The Camden special is one of the most memorable things I've ever seen on TV, and Sawyer thinks these Appalachian kids face an even tougher future.

The Dollhouse (9pm, Fox) - A new series from Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon. Joss Whedon? I'm in.

What to Watch on Thursday: Who wants to snag a millionaire?

NAACP Image Awards (8pm, Fox) - Hosted by Halle Berry and Tyler Perry. Hey, that rhymes.

30 Rock (9:30pm, NBC) - Liz's romance with Jon Hamm continues. I want to go to there.

Millionaire Matchmaker (10pm, Bravo) - The second season premiere of Patti Stanger's (left) show about matching up millionaires with suitable companions. It's actually a legitimate business, not just a TV show. I'm not kidding. (NOTE: not to be confused with A&E's professional matchmaker Patti Novak).

Burn Notice (10pm, USA) - It's not the top-rated cable show for nothing. Tune in.

Also on...The premiere of CBS's Survivor: Tocantins - The Brazilian Highlands at 8pm, followed by CSI. Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice all on ABC.

What to Watch on Wednesday: A bottleneck at 9pm

All the good stuff is on at 9pm, so once again, visions of a second DVR start to creep into our heads...

Tonight at 9pm...
-College Basketball: UNC v/ Duke (CBS) - I know you've probably heard nothing about this game or this rivalry, so it's a good thing you checked in here! Apparently these two teams enjoy challenging each other in athletic contests. You heard it here first.
-Looking for Lincoln (UNC-TV) - Henry Louis Gates Jr. does some myth-busting on Honest Abe.
-Lost (ABC) - No spoilers here: there's a big mystery and a bunch of little mysteries, and some of your favorite characters do some confusing things you might not understand tonight, but one day you will. Hopefully.
-Life (NBC) - A puzzling murder in a heavy metal cover band.

10pm isn't looking too shabby either...Life on Mars (ABC), Damages (FX), and Law & Order (NBC). Important Things with Demetri Martin premieres at 10:30 on Comedy Central.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Redemption for T.I.?

Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown/A Charlie Brown Valentine (8pm, ABC) -A Peanuts Valentine twofer. The first is a classic from 1975 and the second is the first Peanuts special produced after Charles Schulz's death in 2000.

T.I.'s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go (9pm, MTV) - Facing up to 30 years in prison on various gun charges, Grammy winning rapper T.I. (left) brokered a remarkable deal with the courts: complete 1000 hours of community service and earn a reduced sentence. This documentary series follows T.I. as he works with young people and tries to help them while he helps himself.

Fringe (9pm Fox) - A mysterious toxin makes victims' facial features disappear. Wait, isn't that Real Housewives of Orange County?

Speaking of those lovely ladies...Real Housewives of Orange County at 10pm on Bravo. Jeana the Playboy Bunny drives her daughter to Berkeley, where they make fun of the silly hippies.
