What to Watch on Friday: 'Whale Wars' puts new focus on Foroe Island killings

Who Do You Think You Are (8pm, NBC) - Rob Lowe's search of his ancestry leads to Germany and the Library of Congress. Lowe finds an unexpected connection to the Revolutionary War and America's founding fathers.

Nikita (8pm, CW) -  A plot to bankrupt Percy backfires and Percy snatches Birkhoff's life savings instead. Birkhoff is then arrested by the FBI while trying to retrieve it, and Nikita needs to free him before Division gets ahold of him.
 
Whale Wars: Viking Shores (9pm, Animal Planet)
- The premiere of new "Whale Wars" spinoff following the marine-conservation group Sea Shepherd on a new campaign to stop the hunting of pilot whales in the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. The photo on the right isn't touched up. That's blood in the water.

Fringe (9pm, Fox) - The Fringe teams from both worlds are united by a common cause, and new developments are linked to the children from the Cortexiphan experiments.

In Plain Sight (10pm, USA) - The FBI keeps an eye on Mary after her father goes on the lam seeking vengeance. Mary tries to lose the agents tailer her in order to track her father down herself.

Blue Bloods (10pm, CBS) - A leak in the NYPD endangers a Russian mob trial witness whom Danny and Jackie are assigned to protect. Elsewhere, Erin is offered a job as deputy mayor, which would pair her with her father.

What to Watch on Friday: 'Dateline' examines Fort Bragg murder

Flashpoint (8pm, CBS) - A new recruit joins the team on Valentine's Day, which is notorious for hostage and suicide sitations.

Dateline (9pm, NBC) - In the second hour of this two-hour "Dateline," Keith Morrison explores the murder of Fort Bragg Army Special Operations officer David Shannon in Fayetteville in 2002.

Karaoke Battle USA (9pm, NBC) - The series premiere of a reality competition in which karaoke singers from across the nation compete to win a recording contract and a shot at the Karaoke World Championships. Tonight, contestants compete at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - In the Season 4 finale, Watson claims a major victory after 30 years of fighting, while he and the crew reaffirm their commitment to stopping the whaling fleet. At 10, Lisa Ling interviews Paul Watson and the other Sea Shepherds about the success of their 2010-11 campaign.

Strike Back (10pm, Cinemax) - A new series about an ex-Delta Force operative, Damien Scott, who teams up with a British antiterrorist unit to track down an international criminal. In the first episode, British sergeant Michael Stonebridge recruits help from Scott when an agent is kidnapped by a Pakistani terrorist. The two then uncover clues to a possible terrorist attack at a New  Delhi hotel and race to foil it.

Haven (10pm, Syfy) - A wedding at an isolated estate turns deadly for the guests when the site becomes sealed off and something attacks from within.

What to Watch on Friday: NBC tries 'Friends with Benefits'

Friends with Benefits (8pm, NBC) - In this pilot for a sitcom I've never heard of, best friends Ben and Sara blur the lines between friendship and romance while waiting to find their perfect mates. The new series, left over from NBC's Jeff Zucker reign, is described as being about "twentysomething pals facing the perks and perils of dating." A second episode airs at 8:30.

Platinum Hit (8pm, Bravo) - In the Season 1 finale, the three final songwriters try to write a career-making, chart-topping song -- without restricting parameters.

Hard Rock Calling 2011 (9pm, VH1 Classic) - Bon Jovi, Ray Davies, the Killers, Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, and Train perform at London's Hyde Park in 2011.

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - The Sea Shepherds finally locate the factory vessel after months of searching, but it promptly tries to evade the Gojira.

Pauly Shore's Vegas is My Oyster (10pm, Showtime) - Comedian Pauly Shore hosts a Las Vegas variety show that features rock musicians, comedians, and adult entertainers. Among the stand-up comics are Maz Jobrani, Andy Dick, Charlyne Yi, Faizon Love, and Carrot Top.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - Chef Anthony Bourdain and economist Christina Romer are the interview guests. Panelists include Stephen K. Bannon, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Joan Walsh.

Rhett & Link: Commercial Kings (10pm, IFC) - Rhett & Link do a tourism spot for a remote Nevada town that's home to a clown-themed motel, a haunted graveyard, and a dollar store that features a psychic and sells dog food.

20/20 (10pm, ABC) - Compulsive sweepstakes players and the affects of hoarding on families of hoarders. Also, Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton and producer Phil Rosenthal discuss the documentary "Exporting Raymond," about Rosenthal's efforts to produce a Russian version of "Everybody Loves Raymond."

What to Watch on Friday: Colbie Caillat judges on 'Platinum Hit'

Platinum Hit (8pm, Bravo) - The five remaining songwriters work with one of Jewel's favorite lyrics, and singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat (left) is the guest judge.

Flashpoint (8pm, CBS) - A serial robber who broadcasts his heists on the internet is hunted.

Friday Night Lights - That's over, people. Sorry. But if you haven't read Grantland.com's oral history of the show, do that now.

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - The exhausted Shepherds wrap up the initial leg of their campaign, and the Steve Irwin is tipped off to the location of the Nisshin Maru.

Haven (10pm, Syfy) - The residents of Haven have their worst fears come to life while Nathan's "trouble" seems to vanish.

Rhett & Link: Commercial Kings (10pm, IFC) - The Fuquay-Varina duo work on a commercial for a professional wrestler.

The Best Thing I Ever Ate (10:30pm, Food) - Food Network stars, including Alton Brown and Duff Goldman, discuss their favorite ice creams.

What to Watch on Friday: Clear eyes, full hearts say goodbye to "Friday Night Lights"

Friday Night Lights (8pm, NBC) - In tonight's 90-minute series finale, titled "Always," the Taylors make a big decision about their future, including a surprising choice by Julie. Elsewhere, the Lions play in the state championship game. The championship game and the Christmastime setting allow for lots of familiar faces to return to Dillon for the sake of our closure. This episode is rated 4 Kleenexes (out of 4).

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - The Royal New Zealand Navy ask the Shepherds to help them locate a missing Norwegian sailboat crew.

Betty Ford: The Real Deal (10pm, UNC-TV) - Produced by MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, this documentary explores the life of influential first lady, Betty Ford, who passed away last week. It's narrated by award-winning actress Jane Alexander and features never before seen photos and film footage, plus interviews with Mrs. Ford, her four children and close friends; as well as interviews with presidential historians Michael Beschloss, Richard Norton Smith, and former White House photographer David Hume Kennerly.

Haven (10pm, Syfy) - In the Season 2 premiere, a duplicate Audrey Parker arrives in Haven amid a series of bizarre events that are similar to Biblical plagues.

The Soup Awards (10pm, E!) - Joel McHale honors unintentionally funny people and moments in pop culture.

Rhett & Link: Commercial Kings (10pm, IFC) - The guys do a spot for a California taxidermist.

What to Watch on Friday: 'Flea Man' helps singer raise funds

Flea Man (8pm, National Geographic Channel) - The show's host, Jimmy Kaplow, helps a toy collector sell some of his prize possessions so he can raise money to renovate his basement. In a second episode at 9, an aspiring country singer needs cash to record his first album, but he's reluctant to sell his most valuable collectibles.

Friday Night Lights (8pm, NBC) - Coach Taylor is recruited by a top college program, and Vince takes steps to become a starter again. Also, Tim Riggins' friends and family speak on his behalf at a parole hearing. Free Riggins! Free Riggins!

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution (9pm, ABC) - In the Season 2 finale, Jamie is invited to meet the new superintendent of the LAUSD, and he's heartened by developments there. Later, he organizes a cooking competition for high school students, with acclaimed chefs Jonathan Waxman and Michael Symon serving as judges.

Rhett & Link: Commercial Kings (10pm, IFC) - A new show in which the Fuquay-Varina comedy duo cross the country filming commercials for small businesses using local talent. In tonight's opener, Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal (right) are in LA to shoot spots for a doggie day care and a hotel for cats. (Photo taken at Red House Furniture in High Point, NC). What to Watch on Friday: Coach Taylor mulls suspension for Vince

Friday Night Lights (8pm, NBC) - Coach Taylor considers suspending Vince, and the possibility of becoming quarterback weighs on Luke. Also, Billy receives some unexpected news from Mindy, and Becky gets a new job (please don't be at The Landing Strip. Okay, you know it's gonna be at The Landing Strip.).

Flashpoint (8pm, CBS) - The team members turn on one another during a brutal requalification exam conducted by a military psychologist. Meanwhile, Ed is shot on the way to the hospital to attend the birth of his child.

Flea Man (8pm, National Geographic Channel) - In the series premiere, host Jimmy Kaplow helps a family from Long Beach raise money for their daughter's tuition by showing them how to sell at a local flea market some antiques they inherited. He also butts heads with an estate-sale addict over the value of vintage costume jewelry. A second episode follows at 9.

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution (9pm, ABC) - Jamie gets a break when he's given the chance to work with another school district, but before long, he's faced with another big obstacle. Also, Jamie Lee Curtis presents him with an award from the UCLA School of Public Health, and he tours an organic school garden in Santa Barbara.

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - The Shepherds think they've located the Nisshin Maru on the radar. Meanwhile, the Gojira helps the Steve Irwin elude a harpoon ship.

What to Watch on Friday: Step away from the Bacon Bomb

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution (9pm, ABC) - Jamie discusses consequences of unhealthy food choices with students at West Adams High, inviting people with diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure to share their stories. Also, a single dad learns to prepare home-cooked meals.

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - The Sea Shepherds try to locate the factory vessel, but they are soon followed by two harpoon ships.

Younger Next Year: The New Science of Aging (10pm, UNC-TV) - Columbia University medical professor Henry S. Lodge, author of the "Younger Than Next Year" books, offers advice on living a longer and healthier life. Let me guess: eat right, exercise, get plenty of sleep?

Outrageous Food (10pm, Food) - This show is the counterpart to the previous show, with instruction on how to be sicker and die sooner. In this episode, Tom Pizzica (right) visits Paddy Long's in Chicago, home of the Bacon Bomb -- five pounds of sausage, pork, and beef, wrapped in a weave of bacon. Tom also samples a 7-pound burrito at San Felipe's Cantina in Tempe, Arizona, and a 2-foot pizza topped with ghost chiles at Bernie-O's Pizza in Michigan.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - Guests tonight are US Rep. Jane Harman, actor Jane Lynch, comedian Janeane Garafolo, journalist Joshua Green, and Hollywood blogger Sharon Waxman.

What to Watch on Friday: 'Whale Wars' back for Season 4

Friday Night Lights (8pm, NBC) - Coach Taylor worries he's losing control of his Lions, and Vince's arrogance (thanks, Dad!) creates tension with his teammates. Also, Tami suspects that a student is being neglected at home, and Becky enters a pageant.

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - Season 4 kicks off with the Sea Shepherds launching a campaign against a new vessel, the Gojira. They quickly locate two harpoon ships before any whales are killed. A special with highlights of the first three seasons airs prior to this, at 8pm.

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution (9pm, ABC) - Jamie gets banned from serving food at the West Adams Preparatory High School. Heartbroken and defeated, he makes an emotional plea to the kids' parents and gives the students an eye-opening look at what's really in the food they're eating.

MusiCares Person of the Year: Neil Young (9pm, VH1 Classic) - Singer-songwriter Neil Young is saluted for his artistic accomplishments and philanthropic endeavors. Young's songs are performed by John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne, Dave Matthews, Elton John, Sheryl Crow, Wilco, and others.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - Guests are Shaun Donovan, Adam McKay, Melissa Harris-Perry, Larry King, and Rick Lazio.

What to Watch on Friday: "Whale Wars" season finale

The Gulf is Back (8pm, CW) - David Hasselhoff hosts a tribute concert for residents of the Gulf Coast, featuring performances by Lonestar, Ricky Skaggs, Brian McKnight, Bo Bice, and Terri Clark. Filmed at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.

Whale Wars (9pm, Animal Planet) - In part one of a two-part season finale, Bethune attempts a citizen's arrest of a Japanese whaling ship's captain. Meanwhile, the Bob Barker's reconstructed engine fails, leaving the crew stranded. In the second part of the finale, airing at 10pm, the Bob Barker's engine is repaired and the crew joins the Steve Irwin in the chase of a Japanese vessel in dense ice.

Haven (10pm, Syfy) - A local ghost story may be more than it seems as patients at a Haven clinic speak of a dark spirit that claims the lives of patients before their time.

Beyond Survival with Les Stroud (10pm, Discovery) - The opener of a new series fowllowing "Survivorman" Les Stroud as he communes with indigenous peoples to learn their survival skills. Tonight, he visits Sri Lanka to participate in a ritual with men who were once believed to be half-human, half-demon.
