Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Brilliant casting tonight when Team Bartowski battles a sinister scientist played by Robert Englund (aka Freddy Krueger) who is plotting to release toxins that induce nightmares. Meanwhile, the true allegiances of Chuck's mother (Linda Hamilton) come under scrutiny, and the Buy More gang celebrates Halloween. Morgan Fairchild also guest stars.
Lie to Me (9pm, Fox) - The Lightman Group's expertise is called into question when a woman (Tricia Helfer) plays cat-and-mouse with Cal while he's checking for security leaks at an art museum prior to a major exhibition.
In Treatment (9pm, HBO) - In the third season premiere, Paul begins seeing Sunil (Irrfan Khan), a widower from Calcutta whose relocation to his son's home in New York is marred by loneliness, depression, and a tense cohabitation with his daughter-in-law (Sonya Walger). In the 9:30 episode, Frances (Debra Winger) plays an actress whose sister is a former patient of Paul's and who visits Paul to discuss her recent trouble remembering lines. Two more episodes air at the same time Tuesday night. Here's our review of the new season.
Castle (10pm, ABC) - A serial murderer called the Triple Killer (Trinity Killer was taken) strikes again after disappearing four years ago, and Beckett and Castle scramble to catch him before he takes more victims.
Thintervention (10pm, Bravo) - In the Season 1 finale, Jackie's clients return from their six-week solo program to participate in their final weigh-in and to celebrate (we hope).
Weeds (10pm, Showtime) - Nancy and her crew relocate to her old stomping grounds, where she reconnects with an old chum (Richard Dreyfuss), while Silas and Shane try to dig up dirt on their mother's mysterious past.
The TV Guide Network thinks your life could use a little, uh, enhancement, so they've launched "National Weeds Awareness Week" to address the problems many Americans face in regularly accessing "Weeds." The best part of this news is that the network will celebrate the awareness week with a six-day "Weeds" marathon.
The Event (9pm, NBC) - To stop a biological threat, authorities must break Sophia during interrogations. And Hal Holbrook (right) comes onboard tonight as a villainous businessman with knowledge of classified intelligence who butts heads with the President. You know what's hard? Trying to find a picture of Hal Holbrook looking sinister.
The Closer (9pm, TNT) - The always great Gary Cole (right) is guest starring tonight as a military officer battling Brenda as she investigates the shooting deaths of three marines who had just returned from Afghanistan. Also of interest, the fallout from Chief Pope's devastating job news at the end of last week's episode.
The critically acclaimed and hilariously offbeat Showtime hit "Weeds" is coming to the TV Guide Network starting in September.
Greek (9pm, ABC Family) - In the third season opener of this smart, funny drama, Casey is dealing with Cappie's rejection and Cappie learns of Max's departure. Meanwhile, Rusty's grades begin to slip and he risks being dropped from the honors program.
trot out Trista and Ryan and their babies. DVR it and fast-forward like crazy.
The Closer (9pm, TNT) - The season five premiere is strong, folks. The Major Crimes Division works the gruesome execution style murder of a family, which weighs particularly heavily on Lt. Sanchez. Also, Lt. Provenza is going through a personal crisis (an affair of the heart, it seems), and Kitty is sick. You might want to have a tissue handy -- I cried three separate times.
Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (10pm, Bravo) - Season five finds Kathy "trying out" a life on the A-List and working connections to get a Grammy nomination. Most of the episode centers around the first victim of Kathy's A-List education -- Bette Midler. Midler, who entertains Kathy while doing her big show in Las Vegas, was a pretty good sport even though it often seemed she wanted to be somewhere else (or with someone else).
