Gentry, Shaw to play soccer for N.C. State

No. 1-ranked Leesville Road’s 2-1 overtime victory over eleventh-ranked Wakefield on Monday featured two players who will soon be teammates in college. Pride forward Caroline Gentry and Wolverines goalkeeper Madison Shaw have both committed to play for North Carolina State.

The two juniors have known each other by being teammates on their CASL 93 Spartan Elite Black team.

“It’s always really interesting when we play each other because I’m always around her throughout the season,” Gentry said of her relationship with Shaw. “It’s always a challenge.”

In the match on Monday, both Gentry and Shaw showed their athletic ability.

Dinkenor notches 600th

Leesville Road girls soccer coach Paul Dinkenor notched his 600th career high school soccer coaching victory on Monday night in a 2-1 overtime win against Wakefield.

Bobby Murray baseball pairings

League leaders Person and Wakefield will play on Friday at 7:30 in the Bobby Murray baseball tournament.
