ACC fines and reprimands Florida State soccer coach, school

CARY – ACC commissioner John Swofford announced on Friday harsh sanctions for Florida State following coach Mark Krikorian’s decision to leave the team’s starters behind for this week’s ACC conference championship.

Krikorian will be suspended for Florida State’s next game, while the school will be forced to forfeit the women’s soccer championship expense reimbursement of approximately $15, 000. In addition, the Seminoles will be fined $25,000, which will be applied directly to the ACC Post Graduate Scholarship Fund. 

Cary to host five ACC Championships next year

The ACC released its championship dates and sites for the 2010-11 athletic year, and Cary will host five championship events.

Athlete's Foot team members win Kay Brewer Memorial 5K titles

Cary was a busy place for runners on Saturday.  Despite the Cary Road Race being held a few miles down the road, a
record field of more than 350 runners and walkers turned out for the
Kay Brewer Memorial 5K at WakeMed Soccer Park.

James Lavin, 24, of Raleigh, an member of The Athlete’s Foot team,
covered the 5K cross-county route in 18:42.

Raleigh's Meghan Hegarty, 26, another The Athlete's Foot runner, won
the women’s title and was fifth overall in 20:23.

RailHawks-CASL Haiti benefit soccer clinic postponed

Wet weather has forced the postponement of Saturday's Carolina RailHawks-CASL fundraising soccer clinic at WakeMed Soccer Park.

A new date will be announced.

The
RailHawks professional soccer club and the Capital Area Soccer League
announced last week they would hold a joint soccer clinic and donate
proceeds to the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

 

 

RailHawks plan open tryouts, soccer combine in December

The Carolina RailHawks are giving you a chance to find out.

Looking
ahead to next season, the men's team will conduct an open tryout and
the annual RailHawks Combine in December at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.

The Carolina RailHawks defeated the Wilmington Hammerheads 3-0 in an exhibition game at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
