Submitted by joegiglio on 01/08/2011 - 19:18Freshman forward Travis McKie has been a bright spot for Wake Forest this season but he struggled in his ACC debut. McKie, who averages 13.6 points per game, scored eight points with four rebounds in 25 minutes.
He was held scoreless in the first half and really didn't put up any numbers until the Wolfpack had stretched out the lead to double-digits.

RALEIGH — N.C. State got an expected 23 points from Tracy Smith and an unexpected 16 from C.J. Williams in a 90-69 romp of Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon at the RBC Center.
It's the first time State has scored 90 points in an ACC game under fifth-year coach Sidney Lowe, who starts the ACC schedule at 1-0 for the first time.

CenturyLink to keep Wake Forest as regional HQ after Quest merger
Submitted by dbracken on 11/30/2010 - 18:11CenturyLink, which is in the process of merging with Quest, said today that its Wake Forest office will remain a regional headquarters for the combined companies.
The office will be the company's eastern region headquarters after the merger is complete.
Todd Schafer will become eastern region president. Schafer is currently CenturyLink’s Mid-Atlantic region president.
Wake Forest will be one of six regional headquarters within the combined company’s 37-state service area. The other headquarters cities are Denver, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Seattle and Orlando.
CenturyLink employs more than 400 people at its Wake Forest office and more than 2,300 in the state.
The company expanded in this market last year when it bought Embarq, one of the state's largest phone companies, and operates as CenturyLink.
Ten cheer and dance teams advance to Pop Warner regionals

The teams have advanced to compete in Friday's Pop Warner Mid-South Region Championships at The Pointe in Fort Mill, S.C., CFF cheer coordinator Julie Sandford said.
Triangle Pop Warner football, cheerleading teams advance
Submitted by teribb on 11/16/2010 - 03:02The Triangle's Consolidated Football Federation will host the second round of the Pop Warner Mid-South Region playoffs on Saturday in Durham, Garner and Wake Forest, CFF commissioner Tom Goodwin said.
Seven football teams from the CFF will be among the 30 competitors from North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina. They will be playing for spots in the Mid-South Pop Warner Regional Championships to be played Nov. 27 in Charlotte and in Fort Mill, S.C.

Wilson, a junior, was honored on senior day because he hasn’t announced whether he is returning for his senior season. Then he passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more in N.C. State’s 38-3 dismantling of Wake Forest.

ACC Women's soccer: Wake Forest defeats North Carolina in shootout

CARY – Entering this week’s ACC women’s soccer tournament, North Carolina had made every final since the league started the event in 1988.
Not this time.
It took a gutsy 1-1 (5-4) shootout victory by Wake Forest at WakeMed Stadium on Friday to snap that 22-year streak.
