Green Hope, Gibbons win state Wachovia Cups

Cardinal Gibbons (3-A) and Green Hope (4-A) defended their state Wachovia Cup titles this year. The Wachovia Cup is given to the school with the best overall postseason success among all athletic programs.

Carrboro (2-A) and N.C. School of Science and Math (1-A) each finished second in their classifications, while Wakefield was third among 4-A schools.

Durham Trinity, St. David's win NCISAA honors

Trinity Academy of Durham and Raleigh St. David's won Wachovia Cup honors for 1-A and for 2-A schools in the N.C. Independent School Athletic Association.

Green Hope, Gibbons dominate Wachovia Cup

Cary Green Hope dominated the N.C. High School Athletic Association Wachovia Cup competition for the top 4-A athletic program in the state. The Falcons lead second-place Charlotte Myers Park 322.5 to 230 in the all-sport competition through the winter season.
Cardinal Gibbons leads the 3-A classification. The Crusaders have a 437.5-420 edge on Charlotte Catholic.

Science & Math second in 1-A all-sports

Durham Science & Math finished second in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A Wachovia Cup competition for overall sports. Kernersville Bishop McGuinness topped Science & Math 575-505.

Carrboro second in 2-A all-sports

Carrboro High finished second in the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 2-A Wachovia Cup competition for all-sports excellence. Salisbury topped the Jaguars 612.5-465.

Gibbons claims 3-A all-sports honor

Cardinal Gibbons, which moved from the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 2-A to the 3-A classification this year, claimed the NCHSAA 3-A Wachovia Cup for all-around sports excellence.

Green Hope wins state all-sports award

Cary Green Hope High capped an outstanding high school athletic season by winning the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A Wachovia Cup for overall sports excellence.

Green Hope finishes second in State 4-A Wachovia Cup

The final state Wachovia Cup standings were released today in all four classifications. Green Hope, which finished second to Apex in the Wachovia Conference Cup standings by a half-point, finished second statewide behind only Myers Park of Charlotte. The top 15 4-A schools are listed below:
