Win tickets to NYC Fashion Week

There's a catch, of course. You have to go to the spring 2010 Lela Rose trunk show at Vermillion in North Hills Tuesday or Wednesday. Then, you have to buy something from the show (read all about what in store for spring in today's Stylin' column). For every item you buy, you get entered into a drawing for two tickets to see the fall 2010 Lela Rose show at Bryant Park at New York Fashion Week in February.

Trust me when I say Lela Rose's Fashion Week shows are a delight. They never disappoint!

Appointments are encouraged for the trunk show. Call 919-787-9780.

Halston's best is back and coming to Raleigh

Vermillion at North Hills has scored Halston's new Halston Herritage line, which will be like a flashback for some. Halston looked into its archives and decided to bring back some of the best of the best silhouettes, the kind that Bianca Jagger and others used to wear. And the pricing isn't too bad, either. Expect to see the dresses priced between $200 and $400.

Ashley Vermillion Harris, the owner of the women's boutique, said the buzz over the line has been pretty huge. She's already pre-sold four pieces. (It doesn't hurt that Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted in one of the Heritage dresses shown here during the filming of the next Sex and the City movie.)

Look for the collection in the store in time for spring fashion shopping in February or March.

Win a Tuleh dress, help fight breast cancer

Vermillion women's clothing boutique is offering up the chance to win a stunning pink dress by Tuleh (that feels a little Joan Holloway on Mad Men, yes?) valued at $1,250 as part of a raffle to benefit the American Cancer Society. It's Vermillion's part to help raise awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Raffle tickets cost $50 and you can buy them at the North Hills store throughout October. The drawing will be held Nov. 1.

"Jeans doctor" is in Wednesday at Vermillion

Check out the selection of MiH (Made in Heaven) Jeans and get some tips on the best cuts of jeans for your body type Wednesday at Vermillion in North Hills.

Janie Wood of MiH will be at the North Hills boutique from 4 to 7 p.m. to work with shoppers with the latest collection of MiH denim.

Nearly 40 years ago, the jeans were worn by the “it” girls of the day from Jerry Hall to Farrah Fawcett. The brand was relaunched four years ago by the goddaughter of the original designer. And the cuts, many of which have the same ‘70s feel of the originals, are again favorites among the celebrity crowd, mostly because they’re known to help lengthen the look of the leg and lift the behind.

Jason Wu at Vermillion, take 2

Here's a runway shot of one of the dresses from Jason Wu's fall collection now available at Vermillion at North Hills. Strong shoulders, nice curves!

Jason Wu now at Vermillion

Some of the fall looks from the First Lady's inaugural ball gown designer, Jason Wu, are now available in the Triangle. I got a call last night from the owner of Vermillion, Ashley Vermillion Harris, who said the designer is now being carried in the North Hills store.

Wu should likely become a local favorite because of his style of creating clean, classic lines with bright colors, a popular combination in this area. His creations are often described as modern but wearable. Likely he's best known lately, though, for his white, silk-chiffon, one-shoulder gown that Michelle Obama wore to the inaugural balls in January.

Will update more soon on what pieces and styles Vermillion is carrying for fall.

Bottega, Tory Burch bags and shoes on sale at Vermillion

If you shop some of the higher-end stores enough, you'll know that this isn't a sale that comes around often.

So if you've been lusting after one of those new colorful Bottega Veneta handbags or a dainty knot clutch (to the right), now's your chance to jump. Vermillion has Bottega bags and shoes on sale 30 percent off today through Saturday.

Also look for what's become a local fave, Tory Burch shoes and bags, on sale 20 percent off at the North Hills store.

Jason Wu coming to Raleigh?

Maybe not just yet. But it's safe to say that Raleigh is going to Jason Wu.

The buying team at Vermillion clothing boutique in North Hills plans to check out Wu's showroom during an upcoming buying trip to New York. And if all goes well, we might see Wu's collection in the store this fall.

The 26-year-old Taiwanese-designer has been somewhat of an overnight fashion celebrity after Michelle Obama wore his white Grecian-style gown to the Inaugural balls in Washington.

Vermillion would be a fitting store to carry the line in the area. The boutique is one of several in the Triangle known for carrying big-name and up-and-coming designers, including Stella McCartney, Derek Lam and Lanvin.
