What to Watch on Monday: Soul divas and 'Terra Nova' finale

Terra Nova (8pm, Fox) - In the Season 1 finale, the 11th Pilgrimage reaches Terra Nova, and the Phoenix Group moves ahead with their plan with help from Lucas and Mira. But Taylor and Jim are united against the Phoenix Group. I'm sad to say that even my deep love for Jason O'Mara (right) couldn't keep me interested in his show for a whole season. Any chance ABC can bring back "Life on Mars"? No?

Who's Still Standing (8pm, NBC) - A new game show in which players battle in trivia matches for the ultimate jackpot of $1 million. A player who answers incorrectly is dropped through a trap door. Just because.

VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul (9pm, VH1) - A tribute to the top cities of soul music, including Detroit, Chicago, Memphis, London and Philadelphia. Performers include Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Anita Baker, and Mavis Staples.

The Closer (9pm, TNT) - The team investigates the hit-and-run murder of a girl on a bicycle, and the focus soon shifts to the police commissioner (Mark Moses) and his wife (Elizabeth Perkins).

Rizzoli & Isles (10pm, TNT) - Jane works the stabbing death of a star dancer's mother, while Korsak's stepson is accused of shooting a cop. Lolita Davidovich guest stars.

VH1 casting a new dating reality show in Raleigh

VH1 is holding an open casting call for a new dating reality show in Raleigh this weekend.

The network, along with Cornwell Casting, is looking for single women who are over 18 and who appear to be between the ages of 23 and 39. The flier being circulated says the women should be "ready, willing and able to meet the man of their dreams."

There's also an online application and it sounds like you might need to fill that out even if you're going to be at the Raleigh audition.

The open call takes place this Saturday (Nov. 12) at the Downtown Sports Bar and Grill (410 Glenwood Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"Russian Dolls": The usual drama with a shot of vodka

I guess it's just a coincidence that the intro of "Russian Dolls" (10:30 tonight, Lifetime) features hyphenated-American women in furs walking arm in arm, which is the same way that VH1's "Mob Wives" begins.

And yet, it's kind of perfect because like "Mob Wives," "Russian Dolls" is about corruption; the corruption of values, morals and the American dream.

OK, I don't want to get too heavy; this is meant to be candy not spinach. We know that reality shows of this ilk aren't looking to deliver a serious assessment of a culture, in this case the lives of men and women "who live fully, love passionately and work hard as only they can in Brooklyn’s historic Russian-American neighborhood, Brighton Beach." They are about elevating stereotypes and girl fights. You know, drama.

"Client 9" shows Spitzer didn't do it to himself, entirely

Like a good documentary should "Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer" (Bio, 9 tonight) gives you a new perspective on something you probably think you know a lot about.

This time, it's the fall of the former NY governor, now a CNN host, who some thought might be the first Jewish president. Instead, he became another politician undone by not keeping his pants on.

But what you learn is that the unraveling of Spitzer's career, while assisted by his behavior, may have been orchestrated by enemies he made as the crusading attorney general of NY who took on some the most powerful executives on Wall Street.

Critics Choice Television Awards show streaming online today

The Critics Choice Television Awards show will live stream today on VH1's website -- use this link. The show begins at 4 p.m. ET. It's hosted by Cat Deeley and will feature events onstage as well as backstage interviews. If you have access to the Reelz network, the program will broadcast there on Wednesday, June 22 at 8 p.m.

Allen Mask wants to save the music

Summer might be coming on, but Allen Mask has education on the brain -- music education, that is. The UNC-Chapel Hill alumnus, who is now out in the San Francisco Bay Area, recently won a VH1-sponsored "Save the Music" contest with an old-school hip-hop ode to music education called "Next Big Thing." That earned $5,000 for a youth-arts program in San Francisco, and the song is available on iTunes. Check the winning video here.

These "Single Ladies" may remind you of some other ones

As I watched "Single Ladies" (VH1, 9 tonight), I wondered when sitcoms will stop being a variation of "Friends" or "Sex and the City."

That's not necessarily an indictment of "Single Ladies," which follows the love lives of three friends in Atlanta. It's not revolutionary, but it's not awful either.

OK, sometimes it is pretty silly. Stacey Dash plays Val, a stylist cum boutique owner involved with a basketball star. Her best friends are Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy, not stretching her acting range at all), the self-proclaimed gold digger who vows to not let emotions get in her way; and April (Charity Shea), their blonde friend with a husband whom adores her.

What to Watch on Friday: Movie critics awards, "Human Target" finale

Human Target (8pm, Fox) - The last two episodes of the season, pre-empted Wednesday night by coverage of the memorial service in Tucson, will air tonight.

Medium (8pm, CBS) - A despairing man turns to Allison to help him find his vanished wife. Meanwhile, Marie suffers a meltdown while taking a spelling test, concerning her parents. Miguel Sandoval, who plays DA Manuel Devalos, directed the episode. Next week's episode is the series finale.

Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards  (VH1) - Movie critics get their say in the 16th annual awards show. "Black Swan" leads all films with 12 nominations. "The King's Speech" and "True Grit" have 11 nominations each. Maroon 5 is the house band.

Ghost Adventures (9pm, Travel) - Zak, Nick, and Aaron return to Nevada's Goldfield Hotel, the site that launched the tv series.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - Season 9 opens with appearances from James Carville, Martin Short, Chrystia Freeland, Mike Murphy, and Elizabeth Warren.

Funny or Die Presents (Midnight, HBO) - Season two opens with clips featuring Warren Sapp, Gary Cole, Ben Schwartz, and much more.

What to Watch on Wednesday: It's a Wonderful 'Psych'

The Sing-Off (8pm, NBC) - The groups perform medleys of songs from a single artist and collaborate on the Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends."

Let's Spend the Night Together: Confessions of Rock's Greatest Groupies (8:30pm, VH1) - Pamela Des Barres, former groupie and author of two books about being a groupie, goes on the road to hear rock groupies tell their stories.

Psych (9pm, USA) - A two-hour block of new "Psych" episodes tonight. In the first, Shawn bumbles a high-profile case against a crime lord, resulting in the Psych team and Henry's firings. Then Shawn has dreams that show him what Santa Barbara would be like if he had never returned (hence the bizarre shot of Gus, Dule Hill, at right). In the 10pm episode, an animal trainer's death is pinned on a polar bear, but Shawn suspects foul play and takes it upon himself to find the real killer and save his furry friend.

Hell's Kitchen (9pm, Fox) - In the Season 8 finale, the final two "chefs" must prepare five-course meals to be judged by five L.A. - area executive chefs and food service executives.

The Defenders (10pm, CBS) - Nick and Pete defend a trouble former football player arrested for assault, and Pet's father (James Brolin) unexpectedly arrives in town and is charged with grand theft auto.

What to Watch on Monday: Giving "Good Guys" another chance

Bachelorette (8pm, ABC) - It's Fantasy Suite night in Tahiti, and also the night Frank has his big emotional breakdown. Can't wait to see if he flakes out on Ali before or after the sleep over.

Lucky (9pm, HBO) - The latest in HBO's summer documentary series is a look at the seductive power of the lottery. Nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.

Good Guys (9pm, Fox) - Jack and Dan believe rumors of a bank robbery are just an attempt to distract from a much larger heist. If this show got on your nerves too much when it first debuted (specifically, the technophobic Bradley Whitford character), give it another shot. Over the last couple of episodes, Det. Dan Stark has been toned down a bit -- just enough to still be funny while not making you want to kill him. (Now watch them go and have him karate-chopping another computer tonight, just to prove me wrong).

The Closer (9pm, TNT) - Mary McDonnell returns as internal affairs officer Capt. Raydor, to help Brenda investigate a vanished nanny who has connections to the Los Angeles mayor. Raydor may have ulterior motives for shadowing Brenda.

The Client List (9pm, Lifetime) - A new lifetime movie starring Jennifer Love Hewitt as a mother who turns to prostitution to support her family. We have a review.

Do Something Awards (9pm, VH1) - An awards show honoring social activism by young people, hosted by Jane Lynch.

RuPaul's Drag U (9pm, Logo) - The first episode in a new series in which drag queen RuPaul offers makeover advice to women. Our review.

Rizzoli & Isles (10pm, TNT) - Boston is on edge when an alleged copycat of the Boston Strangler emerges. Also, Jane (Angie Harmon) clashes with her new boss, played by Donnie Wahlberg
