What to Watch on Tuesday: 'V' finale, Kathy Griffin on 'Glee'

Glee (8pm, Fox) - The glee kids face stiff competition from the Warblers and Aural Intensity (coached by Sue Sylvester) at the Regionals, so to impress judges Tammy Jean Albertson (Kathy Griffin, left) and Sister Mary Constance (Loretta Devine), they decide to perform original material. 'Glee' spoilers indicate Griffin will play a "Sarah Palin-inspired character," whatever that means.

V (9pm, ABC) - In the Season 2 finale, Erica and Diana try to get Lisa to usurp Anna before she decimates humanity, but the attempted coup yields devastating results.

Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? (9pm, WeTV) - Joan considers removing Lynne from her updated in the Season 1 finale. Meanwhile, Melissa vists her doctor to investigate strange stomach pains, and Jason makes an announcement.

Detroit 1-8-7 (10pm, ABC) - While the slaying of a young graffiti artist is investigated, Fitch's ex-wife brings his 12-year-old son (Michael Imperioli's son Vadim Imperioli) -- and some shocking news -- to Detroit.

The Game (10pm, BET) - Malik plans to end his affair with Parker, and Tasha's lie about her relationship with Dante is exposed.

Lights Out (10pm, FX) - Lights' setback wins him little sympathy from either Death Row Reynolds or Barry Word. Meanwhile, Theresa makes a career decision as her graduation from medical school approaches.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Aliens, Paula Abdul, and 'Southland' return

Live to Dance (8pm, CBS) - Do we really need another dance contest competition show? Maybe so, since this one's claim to fame is that Paula Abdul is one of the judges. Tonight: auditions in New York and Los Angles. Each week, six acts face off with two (one chosen by judges, one by viewers) advancing to face winners of subsequent rounds.

No Ordinary Life (8pm, ABC) - The Powells befriend a couple (Rick Schroder, Annie Wersching) after Jim saves the husband's life, but Jim starts to wonder if their family is hiding a secret of their own.

Biggest Loser: Couples (8pm, NBC) - A new round of this show begins and this time players must choose whether they work out with Bob and Jillian or two new unknown trainers.

V (9pm, ABC) - The second season begins as riots erupt during the fourth day of the red sky. Ryan briefly reunites with his offspring before returning to earth, and some are beginning to doubt Anna's ability to lead.

Detroit 1-8-7 (10pm, ABC) - Fitch, Washington and Mason investigate the murder of a high-profile actress who was filming a movie in Detroit.

Southland (10pm, TNT) - In tonight's Season 3 premiere, detectives search for the killer of a cleaning lady and a bank robbery leaves an officer in need of rescue. So happy to see this show return!

What to Watch on Saturday: Rose Parade, bowl games, repeats

Tournament of Roses Parade (11am, ABC, NBC, Hallmark, HGTV) - Paula Deen is the grand marshal for the 122nd parade through Pasadena, California. Not sure if Deen will be hawking hams the whole time, but y'all know she might. Reason to watch: NCCU marching band is part of the action. And then, of course, there's a bunch of football today (and over the next few days).

V (8pm, ABC) - Tonight's three back-to-back repeats are a decent catch-up for those tuning in to next week's Season 2 premiere. At 8pm you can watch the pilot, at 9pm there's an episode about the Visitors ferreting out the Fifth Column, and then the Season 1 finale airs at 10pm. The second season debuts Tuesday, January 4 at 9pm.

Hot in Cleveland (8pm, TV Land) - There's a marathon from 8pm to midnight. The final installment is their "behind the scenes" special and a glimpse of Season 2, which debuts January 19.

Austin City Limits (Midnight, UNC-TV) - Cheap Trick performs material from their 2009 album, "The Latest," as well as some of their classics.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Neil Patrick Harris hits "Glee"

90210 (8pm, CW) - The second season finale has Teddy taking revenge against Spence for trying to bribe Silver. Also, Debbie learns the truth Harry has been hiding.

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - Miley Cyrus and Sarah McLachlan perform, and Melissa Rycroft and Joey Fatone dance the tango. Someone goes home.

Glee (9pm, Fox) - After the Madonna episode, this is probably the episode Gleeks have been most anxious to see. It's directed by Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Dr. Horrible," "Firefly") and guest stars Neil Patrick Harris. NPH plays a jerk from Will's past and the two end up in a sing-off (Aerosmith's "Dream On"). Plus, there's a flashback scene featuring NPH with a mullet. Not to be missed.

V (10pm, ABC) - In the Season 1 finale, Erica gets a dinner invitation to the mothership for herself and Tyler, and uses it as an opportunity to go on the offensive. Also, news anchor Chad discovers that Anna has been using him.

The Good Wife (10pm, CBS) - Alicia once again defends accused killer Colin Sweeney (Dylan Baker) when he's found handcuffed to a dead woman and claims self-defense. Cary, fired last week by the firm, begins working for the attorney general to get dirt on Alicia and Peter.

What to Watch on Tuesday: How to watch six great shows, all on at 10pm

NCIS: LA (8pm, CBS) - There's a mixed martial arts storyline tonight, so lots of MMA fighters (right) have cameos: Dan Henderson, Frank Shamrock, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Thomson, K.J. Noons, Cung Le.

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - It's elimination night and guest Reba McIntyre sings two songs, and DWTS pro Mark Ballas performs an acoustic Paso Doble arrangement on guitar.

American Idol (8pm, Fox) - The finalists perform songs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Not sure if that means solo songs or if Beatles music will get butchered, too.

The really good stuff comes on at 10pm. Keep reading ...

What to Watch on Tuesday: ABC's "V" returns to destroy humankind

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - It's the first elimination night. Haitian dancers perform a tribute to their country, the Beach Boys perform with John Stamos, and Adam Corolla evaluates the contestants.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent (10pm, USA) - In part one of the show's two-part season opener, Goren and Eames (Vincent D'onofrio and Kathryn Erbe) investigate the murder of a wealthy businessman and his girlfriend. Prepare yourself for Somali pirates and the mass exodus of cast members...

Justified (10pm, FX) - Raylan searches for an informant who is on the run, while a couple of murdering ex-cons search for Raylan. Alan Ruck stars as the informant-turned-dentist with a soft spot for "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer."

Parenthood (10pm, NBC) - Sarah (Lauren Graham) becomes interested in Drew's teacher, played by Jason Ritter. Dang it, Lorelai (also Lauren Graham) already went down this path when she started dating Max Medina, Rory's English teacher at Chilton. Bad habits are hard to break.

V (10pm, ABC) - V returns, after a looonnnng break. Here's where we are: Val is pregnant with Ryan's (Morris Chestnut) alien baby, but she doesn't know she's having an alien's baby; V leader Anna can't figure out why Chad (Scott Wolf) hasn't followed up on that scary diagnosis they gave him; and FBI agent Erica Evans gets attacked in her home (while her son Tyler is still fraternizing with the enemy).

What to Watch on Tuesday: A "Justified" manhunt

American Idol (8pm, Fox) - Miley Cyrus plays mentor to contestants (God help them).

Justified (10pm, FX) - Raylan (left) has to track down a convict who escaped while performing in the prison's bluegrass band with only three months left on his sentence. The search begins with a visit to the escapee's ex-wife.

Southland (10pm, TNT) - Detectives go to Compton to investigate the murder of a USC student. John and Ben attend the funeral of a cop and on the way back, stop in to visit Dewey at his halfway house.

Parenthood (10pm, NBC) - Sarah tries to prepare herself for an important talk "man to man" talk with Drew, and Jabbar has an accident while under Crosby's care.

V: The Arrival (10pm, ABC) - Hey, remember that show from last year about the aliens who come to earth and act all nice but they're really here to kill us and take over the planet? Well, it's coming back. Tonight there's a recap of the earlier episodes to help you catch up.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Whitney Houston on DWTS finale, Chelsea Handler on "The Good Wife"

V (8pm, ABC) - Erica and her allies uncover a biological threat that may be linked to The Visitors. Meanwhile, Anna supervises the murder investigation of V while meeting with a special guest on the mother ship. I really like this show, but does anyone else find the teenage son supremely annoying? Also, this is the last episode till March 2010, so by that time we won't care about it anymore and the ratings can tank and ABC can go ahead and cancel it like they always do.

NCIS (8pm, CBS) - US Navy Secretary Ray Mabus makes his acting debut tonight. Read more about Mabus and tonight's episode of "NCIS" here

Dancing with the Stars (9pm, ABC) - Tonight's ninth-season finale features two performances by Whitney Houston and two dance-offs. Also, all of this season's contestants return as well as Adam Corrolla, Jeffrey Ross, and The Muppets

The Good Wife (10pm, CBS) - Alicia finds herself in the middle of office politics when she's asked to defend the firm's senior partner after he's arrested. Also, Chelsea Handler interviews Peter's mistress on her talk show.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Reptilian aliens or an NCIS assassin?

V (8pm, ABC) - Father Jack and FBI agent Erica (at left), who are now firmly anti-V, find themselves being tracked by a "Seeker." Meanwhile, TV news reporter Chad (Scott Wolf) feels guilty about his fluff piece on the Vs, so he sets out to do a little investigative work.

NCIS (8pm, CBS) - Deputy director Vance's family is in danger when a North Korean assassin -- excuse me, "the world's best assassin" -- shows up in Washington, D.C.

Biggest Loser (8pm, NBC) - A circus-themed show and a double-elimination. Cruel and unusual.

The Good Wife (10pm, CBS) - Alicia becomes attracted to her co-counsel, played by Chris Bowers, when they defend a law partner's daughter.

Sons of Anarchy (10pm, FX) - Agent Stahl starts to notice SAMCRO's huge repo profits, and the Jax-Clay standoff pushes Gemma into a difficult decision.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Visitors arrive to destroy mankind

V (8pm, ABC) - ABC "re-imagines" NBC's 80s sci-fi drama about carnivorous reptilian aliens known as "The Visitors" who invade Earth. The Visitors claim to be friendly, but their mission is to exterminate the human race. I'm not normally a big fan of sci-fi, but this show is very well-done. Starring Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet from "Lost"), Scott Wolf, and Morris Chestnut.

Biggest Loser (8pm, NBC) - The contestants are now competing individually. In tonight's episode, they all travel to Washington DC for a public workout at the Washington Monument, for a salad at the White House, and then a weigh-in on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Couldn't NBC have used some of this travel budget to film another episode of "Trauma?"

So You Think You Can Dance (8pm, Fox) - One local dancer (Noelle) remains on the show but she was hobbling around on a bad leg last week, so who knows...

Kathy Griffin: Balls of Steel (9pm, Bravo) - In her latest stand-up show filmed at the San Diego Civic Center, Kathy Griffin dishes on Barbara Walters, the Gosselins, Levi Johnston, and Miley Cyrus.

Tabatha's Salon Takeover (10pm, Bravo) - Season two gets underway tonight, with Tabatha Coffey taking over a struggling salon in Chicago.
