Seventy-two high school girls soccer games are on tap in late March for The Brittany Willis Memorial Scholarship Showcase, held at the J. Burt Gillette Soccer Complex in Wilson.
Among the area teams competing are: Broughton, Millbrook, Wakefield, East Wake, Clayton, North Johnston, East Chapel Hill, Cardinal Gibbons and Franklinton.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs are set to start this Tuesday. The first and second rounds will be played at one school site. With exception to the 1A bracket, the third and fourth rounds are held at a school on Thursday (the 1A only has one match that day for the regional title.
All four state championships Saturday between the East and West champion, also held at a school.

The NCHSAA baseball playoffs are set for the second round.
The NCHSAA boys dual-team tennis playoffs begin Tuesday, and the brackets were unveiled today. The winners advance to next Tuesday's second round. The regionals for the individual boys tennis championships begin Friday at area venues.
Union Pines and East Montgomery combine for 13 home runs.
A showdown of one-loss Millbrook and one-loss Green Hope leads the 4-A lineup, while a Chatham County rivalry is renewed in the 2-A ranks as Northwood visits Jordan-Matthews.

Today starts the wrestling dual-team playoffs. Teams meet in four-team pods today, with the advancing team moving on to Thursday for another four-team pod. The state championships will be held at school sites on Saturday.
New statewide wrestling rankings came out on Wednesday on retrorankings.com. Cary, Union Pines and Orange are the only three teams that cracked the top five for teams.
A number of area individuals are ranked #1 individually across the state.
NOTE: The Chatlee has been postponed to Dec. 28-30.
The ChatLee Shootout will be held at Lee County High School and will have a boys and girls bracket.
