CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina’s 80-56 victory against Florida Atlantic at the Smith Center on Sunday was a lot like the Tar Heels’ season-opening victory against Gardner-Webb on Friday night. In both games, the Heels showed positive glimpses of the team they might become amid sloppiness that proves they still have a long ways to go.
After finishing with a quiet five points on Friday night, Reggie Bullock led UNC early on and finished with 16 points. Tar Heels coach Roy Williams said after that game on Friday that he wanted Bullock to be more assertive, and not to pass up the kinds of shots he had the chance to take against Gardner-Webb.
Bullock listened. He scored seven of the Tar Heels’ first nine points.
