Cynthia Rowley mobile trunk show comes to Raleigh

Fans of Cynthia Rowley's clothes won't want to miss the Cynthia Rowley "Mobile Fashion Unit" that will be at Beanie + Cecil today from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

The shop on wheels is really a mobile trunk show of sorts.

Inside, you'll find hardwood floors, a fitting room, printed-fabric walls covers and lucite fixtures. But best of all, you find the entire range of items in the Cynthia Rowley collection: clothing, shoes, bags, eyewear, jewelry, legwear and more.

Apparently, the MFU travels the country to private homes on appointment, parties and trunk shows.

The show is free and open to the public.

Win tickets to NYC Fashion Week

There's a catch, of course. You have to go to the spring 2010 Lela Rose trunk show at Vermillion in North Hills Tuesday or Wednesday. Then, you have to buy something from the show (read all about what in store for spring in today's Stylin' column). For every item you buy, you get entered into a drawing for two tickets to see the fall 2010 Lela Rose show at Bryant Park at New York Fashion Week in February.

Trust me when I say Lela Rose's Fashion Week shows are a delight. They never disappoint!

Appointments are encouraged for the trunk show. Call 919-787-9780.

Hard-to-fit feet? Try the Stuart Weitzman trunk show

Main & Taylor's trunk show of Stuart Weitzman shoes has become a favorite for those who have tough sizes to fit, particularly those with very narrow feet. It's also a favorite show for those who are super picky. At the trunk show, you can pick the size, color and fabric and then place your order. Sort of like designing your own shoes.

The show is at M&T's Greensboro Tuesday and Wednesday and then comes to Raleigh to the Cameron Village store Thursday through Saturday.

Trunk and art show at Revolver Consignment

Revolver Consignment Boutique in Raleigh's Glenwood South is celebrating the arrival of fall this week with a mix of fashion and art. On Thursday from 7-10 p.m. the store will have a trunk show with Amanda DeLeon, a fashion-forward clothing designer from Wilmington (see one of her looks here from Charleston Fashion Week). Artist Kristin Matwiczyk will show her “Surreal Botany” series during the event.

(Of course, don't forget to see what's new for fall at Fine Feathers for the season, including pieces by Armani, St. John and Max Mara)

Jewelry trunk show at Denim & Lace

Kendra Kist is back for another trunk show of her work at Denim & Lace boutique at the Arboretum in Cary. She'll be showing her latest fall collection at the store on Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

October sparkles at Saks

Saks has a busy month ahead with three trunk shows of different jewelers.

The first has already gotten started. It's the Kenneth Jay Lane trunk show running now through Oct. 14. Lane is known for his fun costume jewelry styles (see the bee to the left) that won't break the bank.

Sapphires, emeralds, aquamarines and rubies for everyday wear will be part of the David Harris trunk show Oct. 16. And then on Oct. 17, look for latest styles in 18k gold by Italian jewelry designer Ippolita.

For more information or to make an appointment call 919-792-9100, ext. 5318.

Maria Sharapova targeting Greeks with Cole Haan trunk at UNC

UNC is one of three universities Cole Haan will with a trunk show next week, an exclusive shopping event to promote Maria Sharapova's new footwear and handbag line called Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan.

The line also be going to Vanderbilt University and UVA.

Not in a UNC sorority? Don't expect an invite. The show is for sorority sisters only.

Oh, and their moms aren't invited either.

Apparently, the show is designed to help Cole Haan reach younger shoppers with newer, edgier styles. "With this partnership, Cole Haan branches out to a previously untapped market, offering fashion forward designs with edgier silhouettes and unique embellishments," the company says in a statement.

The show hits UNC Sept 23 from 3-5 p.m.

CORRECTION: The show, which will be hosted by Kappa Deltas, is open to all UNC students, not just sorority girls, and sorry to disappoint but Maria will not be at the show.

"Healthy" shoes trunk show

Foot Solutions in Brier Creek Commons will have a trunk show Friday and Saturday of shoes that supposedly improve your health, including shoes by Reebok Easytone (the one that was on "The Tyra Banks" show recently, shown here), Chung Shi, Chung Shi Anti Step, Xsensible Stretch Walker, Akaishi and To The Point.

Apparently, the shoes have varying special features that improve posture, gait and circulation, increase calorie burn, reduce leg and back pain and give you a foot massage when you walk.

If you buy a pair in the next month, you'll be entered into a raffle to receive a free pair.

"Jeans doctor" is in Wednesday at Vermillion

Check out the selection of MiH (Made in Heaven) Jeans and get some tips on the best cuts of jeans for your body type Wednesday at Vermillion in North Hills.

Janie Wood of MiH will be at the North Hills boutique from 4 to 7 p.m. to work with shoppers with the latest collection of MiH denim.

Nearly 40 years ago, the jeans were worn by the “it” girls of the day from Jerry Hall to Farrah Fawcett. The brand was relaunched four years ago by the goddaughter of the original designer. And the cuts, many of which have the same ‘70s feel of the originals, are again favorites among the celebrity crowd, mostly because they’re known to help lengthen the look of the leg and lift the behind.
