Triangle Volleyball Club teams advance to nationals

The Triangle Volleyball Club will send seven teams to Atlanta this summer to compete in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships.

The first of the Morrisville-based club’s teams to qualify was Triangle 18 Black, which qualified in the 18 Open division by finishing third at the Big South National Qualifier in early April.

The remaining six bids were earned at Carolina Region bid tournaments held in Greensboro on April 30.

The Triangle Volleyball Club has received confirmation from Guinness World Records that the club officially holds the Guinness World Record for the “most consecutive volleyball passes.”

The record of 110 passes was set Feb. 5 at the Raleigh Convention Center in conjunction with the Feb. 6-7 Mid-Atlantic Power League tournament hosted the TVC.

Triangle 18 Black wins volleyball tournament

The Triangle 18 Black team won the Black Division for ages 16-18 at
the Mid-Atlantic Power League volleyball tournament played Saturday and
Sunday at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The Pennsylvania Volleyball Academy 18s team was second in the
tournament, which consisted of 48 elite-level Junior Olympic girls
teams in each of two age divisions.

The Blue Division (ages 13-15) title went to the Carolina Juniors Volleyball 15 Blaze of Charlotte.

Triangle Volleyball Club aims for Guinness World Records entry

The Triangle Volleyball Club is going for a world record.

Club athletes, staff and participants in next month's Mid-Atlantic
Power League tournament will attempt to win a place among the Guinness
World Records for the number of consecutive volleyball passes, said
Sherry Fadool, associate director of the Morrisville-based Triangle
Volleyball Club.

The record attempt will take place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Raleigh
Convention Center as a prelude to the Mid-Atlantic Power League’s Feb.
6-7 MAPL Raleigh 2010 tournament at the convention center.
