Triangle film studios collaborate for new reality TV series

Two Triangle-based film studios have joined forces to produce a new reality series debuting next week on the DIY network.

Raleigh's Trailblazer Studios and Carrboro's Figure 8 Films are bringing "Salvage Dawgs," a show about a Virgina-based architectural salvage team, to air on November 8.

"Salvage Dawgs" follows Robert Kulp and Mike Whiteside, owners of Black Dog Salvage, as they scavenge for vintage architectural items and use them to create furniture or art, to renovate old homes, or to give new homes a more aged vibe.

In the show's first episode, which airs at 11 p.m., the crew salvages the Izard House, a 14-room farmhouse built in the 1890s that was said to have served as a historic schoolhouse and post office in Virginia.
