The Biggest Loser finale: Sometimes good guys finish first

Our Biggest Loser correspondent, The N&O's Michelle Aldrich, gives us her recap of last night's big finale.

It was a great season and satisfying finale: jaw-dropping results, a few tears, and several commercial breaks timed for optimal suspense. (And by my count, the word "journey" was uttered 13+ times.) We'll sum it up player-by-player, with some help from my loyal sidekick Mr. TiVO.

First up, our host Alison Sweeney: "It looks like a swarm of fabric butterflies has landed in her cleavage."

The NC-laden Biggest Loser ends. They all won.

The season of "The Biggest Loser" with the highest contingent of North Carolina contestants is over.

In my view, this was the most transformative season. You couldn't recognize some of the "Losers!" Kudos to Tracey, who almost won the most weight percentage loss at home race, Daniel, who looks like a teenager now, and Antoine, who is not only a hunk, but gained the love of his life and provided us with a good sweet cry last night.

Check it out:

"Biggest Loser" villain Tracey has no regrets

The last time Happiness spoke with "The Biggest Loser's" Tracey Yukich, a Raleigh native, the show had not begun airing yet, and she sounded upbeat, strong and confident.

So as we got ready for this chat it occurred to us that, back then, she may not have known how she was going to come across on TV. And we were right.

"I had no idea," says Tracey. "When I was sitting with my kids watching the show, I didn't know what was coming."

The Biggest Loser: Ding, dong, Tracey's gone.

The internets are all abuzz today, with strains of "Ding, Dong, the Witch is Dead" practically wafting up out of my computer's ethernet cable as I type this.

Raleigh native Tracey Yukich, who quickly became "Biggest Loser" season 8's requisite villain, finally got her comeuppance last night, and fans all over the country are celebrating her reality show demise.

After spending a week with the whole gang in our nation's capital, Tracey found herself below the yellow line at weigh-in and in a showdown with her "Biggest Loser" nemesis, Liz. (Sorry if this is a spoiler for you, but this is Raleigh so Tracey is news to our readers).

Biggest Loser: Tracey wins control -- and bullseye on her back

Our Biggest Loser correspondent, The N&O's Michelle Aldrich, gives us her recap of last night's show.

Raleigh native Tracey Yukrich, already a little unpopular because of some strange decisionis she made on the show a couple weeks ago, did little last night to improve her standing with her teammates. In fact, it's looking like someone may have a big ole bullseye on her back.

Biggest Loser: The kitchen is closed

Our Biggest Loser correspondent, The N&O's Michelle Aldrich, gives us her recap of last night's show.

After last week's elimination I was expecting a more melodramatic opener, but week four started with the orange and purple teams talking privately about what went down. In a nutshell, Shay isn't going to trust Raleigh native Tracey (she's a liar!) etc. etc.

When Jillian and Bob learn how the red team went home, they admonish the group that everyone needs to be here, no one should be sacrificing anyone, and they need to fight for themselves!

Another group joins the "DietTribe"

"The Biggest Loser" already is off to a rousing start (thanks Tracey!), but I say you should still leave room on your TV schedule for another weight loss reality show, Lifetime's "DietTribe." It starts tonight at 9.

It's the show's second season. Last time, the premise was 5 friends -- all over 200 pounds --- who set out to lose 30 pounds before one of the friends' wedding.

Raleigh native plays the villain on "Biggest Loser"

Our Biggest Loser correspondent, The N&O's Michelle Aldrich, gives us her recap of last night's show.

Episode three kicked off with Alison announcing, "This is 'would you rather week'" and posed the challenge, "Would rather have your trainer OR a two-pound advantage at this week's weigh-in?"

Most of our contestants wisely know that there's nothing that would make them give up their trainer. As Liz says, "I didn't get fat pushing myself."

But Triangle native Tracey took the 2 pounds, shocking everyone, including her teammate Coach Mo! Her thinking? She didn't want to see the ante upped and have a rival get a four, six or eight pound advantage.

Jillian and Bob are incredulous and they speak with the purple team privately. They talk about panic, about fear .... But is Tracey really listening?

Biggest Loser: Raleigh native released from hospital

Our Biggest Loser correspondent, The N&O's Michelle Aldrich, gives us her recap of last night's show.

OK, so Mr. Tivo and I aren't much for reality TV. "Mad Men," "The
Office," and "30 Rock" are what we look forward to. I do like the
sub-genre of celeb-reality (i.e. "The Osbornes," "Tori & Dean,"
"Rachel Zoe") and then a few years ago, we got sucked into NBC's "The
Biggest Loser." It's overwhelmingly positive and it's the rare program
that gets real about food and weight issues in America.

Episode two kicked off with a very l-e-n-g-t-h-y recap of last week's elimination. So bye bye Alexandra - but the upside was she looked GREAT in the clip showing how well she's doing at home. (I love those.) Julio however, is the target of many dirty looks from contestants questioning his being allowed to remain. He'll have a lot to lose and prove this week.

A night of ups and downs for NC folks on "Biggest Loser"

Last night's premiere of NBC's "Biggest Loser" featured three people from North Carolina, Antoine Dove, Daniel Wright, and Tracey Yukich. Unfortunately, it didn't go so well for all of them.

The first challenge of the show involved having the 16 contestants run one mile, with the winner of the race gaining immunity from the first elimination. It would be hard enough for a lot of out-of-shape folks to run a mile, so the fact that these people (some of them weighing over 400 pounds) completed the race was pretty impressive. But the accomplishment didn't come without a few small disasters. Two of the runners ended up having to be hospitalized at the end of the race, including one of the NC contestants.
