Getting to the good stuff

Now we can start.

Thursday at the ACC Tournament was nice in a chicken salad kind of way. Not too heavy. Nothing to get all excited about. Nothing memorable.

Today is about steak and potatoes. And throw in a wedge of lettuce covered with really chunky blue cheese dressing.

Talking Points: Bitter end for Pack

From Talking Points:

This N.C. State team was going to go as far as Brandon Costner, Courtney Fells and Ben McCauley could take it. In the end, it wasn’t very far.

Raleigh man can't cash in

ATLANTA — Mark Cacchione, a self-employed accountant from Raleigh, would have liked to have left the ACC Tournament with more numbers to crunch.

RBC Bank gave the 46-year-old a chance to win $1 million at halftime of the N.C. State-Maryland game in Thursday's first round. Cacchione was given five shots at progressive amounts. He missed all five, including a 7-footer for $10,000 and a free throw for $20,000.

Smith hasn't played since suffering a concussion when he ran into a David Neal screen at Maryland on Feb. 25, missing three games.
