Scotty on Leno: Five whole minutes!

Even though "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" only started 5 minutes late Wednesday night (due to the last game of the Stanley Cup Finals), I knew we were in trouble at 12:20 a.m. when Leno was still on his first guest, Blake Lively, and he still had Blake Shelton to go before getting to Scotty McCreery.

So this recap was written while I was sleepy and hatin' on Jay Leno.

Blake Shelton hit the couch at 12:28, so that means he and Scotty get to split about 12 minutes, not counting commercials. Woo-hoo, thanks Jay!

Scotty McCreery on 'Leno' tonight

Reigning American Idol Scotty McCreery will perform tonight on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

You know what that means: my "I'm not watching Jay Leno" streak must come to an end (I'll have a recap here on the blog after the show ends).

The other guests on tonight's show are "Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively and country singer Blake Shelton. Shelton is also a judge on NBC's "The Voice," a reality singing competition in the same vein as "Idol." Hopefully, Scotty will get some couch time and can chat with Shelton about the merits of these type shows.

I just hope Jay asks him something other than if he and Lauren are dating. I'm so sick of that, and I'm sure Scotty is, too.

"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" airs on NBC at 11:35 p.m.

NOTE!!!!! Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals airs tonight on NBC, so "Leno" may run late. If you're recording, set your device to catch "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" after Leno -- just in case. You don't want to have to deal with any heartbroken 11-year-olds tomorrow morning...

The real reason Jay Leno is going to primetime

TV comedy writer Ken Levine has figured out the real reason NBC is moving Jay Leno to primetime...
