Scotty McCreery to perform on 'Today' Concert Series

DVR Alert: "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina will perform on the "Today Show" Summer Concert Series tomorrow morning on NBC.

The "Today Show" airs at 7 a.m. on NBC-17, and runs until 11 a.m. (pretty sure the Concert Series stuff will end by 10 a.m. but I suppose it's possible some of it could carry over into the Kathie Lee & Hoda hour).

Scotty has had a busy week already. He appeared with Mickey Mouse at Disney World on Monday, then visited with Regis & Kelly and MTV on Tuesday.

Winning? Charlie Sheen's 'Today' show interview (VIDEO)

When Charlie Sheen says he's not using drugs, I think what he really means is, "I'm using a lot of drugs." (Actually, I'll note that '20/20' gave him a drug test, which he passed, meaning he's obviously just full-blown crazy at this point).

Here's Sheen's interview with 'Today,' which aired this morning. Sheen says he plans to sue CBS for yanking 'Two and a Half Men.'

'Today' will air more of the Sheen interview on Tuesday morning's show, and ABC will air their Sheen interview Tuesday night at 10pm on '20/20.'

Update: Sheen gave another even more bizarre interview to TMZ today. Right after that happened, his longtime publicist resigned. Can't say I blame him.

Jon Gosselin's E! interview for tonight is cancelled

Jon Gosselin's interview scheduled for tonight on the E! network has been cancelled.

E! did not give a reason for the cancellation.

Jon was supposed to appear with his pal Kate Major in an interview segment with Ryan Seacrest. Major will still appear.

Kate Gosselin appeared this morning on the "Today" show in an interview with Meredith Vieira and said she was shocked that Jon began dating so quickly after their separation.

Kate Gosselin talks to Meredith Vieira Monday on "Today"

"Jon & Kate Plus 8" star Kate Gosselin recently sat for an interview with "Today" co-anchor Meredith Vieira, and told Vieira that she's hesitant to believe that her husband Jon Gosselin actually cheated on her before their separation.

Jon and the kids were originally supposed to appear on "Today" with Kate, but because of all the controversy surrounding their marriage, Kate ended up making the trip alone. She's on a tour promoting her new book, "Eight Little Faces."

The interview will air Monday (August 10) on "Today" at 7am. Check back here on Monday for more info on the interview after it airs.

"Today" picks NYC beef ribs over Ed Mitchell's NC fare

Ed Mitchell, esteemed pitmaster at Raleigh's The Pit restaurant, appeared in a rib showdown this morning on NBC's "Today" show. Mitchell went up against Kenny Callaghan, a pitmaster at the New York City restaurant Blue Smoke, and BBQ cookbook author Chris Lilly.

Each ribmaster demonstrated their recipe and cooking technique (Lilly uses cherries and blackberries in his sauce, for goodness sake) and then Matt Lauer, Meredith Viera, and Ann Curry judged the results. (Check out all of the recipes).

Surprise, surprise, the "Today" show homers picked NYC's Callaghan, who prepared Texas style beef ribs. As the judges convened, Lauer can be heard telling Viera and Curry, "I"m going with number 2," Callaghan's beef ribs. Curry also points to number two and says, "I'm here," and Viera responds, "Okay, you win then."

Apparently, Meredith Viera preferred a different rib, and we like to think it was Ed's.

You can watch the segment below.

Raleigh's Ed Mitchell is all over your TV set

Pitmaster Ed Mitchell shows up in a "Throwdown! with Bobby Flay" rerun tonight at 9:30pm on the Food Network, and according to our friends over at mouthful, he's on NBC's "Today" show tomorrow morning, too.

It's Ed Mitchell's world, we just live in it.
