North Carolina – home to last season's "The Amazing Race" winner Bates Battaglia – will field more contestants for the upcoming seasons of both "Race" and "Survivor."
"Survivor: Blood vs. Water," which debuts Sept. 18, will feature 10 returning contestants who will each have a loved one competing alongside them.
Marissa Peterson, a 21-year-old student from Chapel Hill, will be taking part with her uncle, Gervase Peterson, 43, who was previously a contestant way back in "Survivor's" first season in 2000. (They are at right).
A former Tar Heel, Candice Woodcock Cody, 30, will be a contestant on "Survivor" for the third time. She graduated from high school in Fayetteville and received her undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. She's an anesthesiology resident in Washington now, and she'll be competing with her husband, John Cody, also 30.
