CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina outfielder Tim Fedroff has signed with the Cleveland Indians, coach Mike Fox said, leaving the Tar Heels, who have advanced to three straight College World Series, to replace their entire outfield.

“I’m not surprised,’’ Fox said in a telephone interview on Thursday. “I was holding out hope that he would come back, but he was in a unique position, and we were trying to do everything we could to help him through the process."
