Today's (double) giveaway could be your guilty pleasure

Television is a tough business, and so, history is strewn with failed series.

Some failed because they were bad; others because they were before their time.

Today, we offer two giveaway 2-packs that offer the shows' full first seasons AKA the complete series.

First up, "Sherri," the short-lived Lifetime sitcom based on the life of "The View" host Sherri Shepherd. The two-DVD set includes 13 episodes plus bonus webisodes featuring Ms. Shepherd's standup comedy.

We've paired that with "Huge," an acclaimed ABC Family show that starred Nikki Blonsky as a girl who attends fat camp and her relationships and adventures there.

The second package features "Off the Map," the ABC show from the preoducers of "Grey's Anatomy." You'll get more than 500 minutes of the show about young hot doctors in the South American jungle, plus bonus features like the cast discussing jungle medicine and cures.

That comes with the complete series of "Outsourced," the NBC sitcom about an American working at a call center in India. More than 7 hours of viewing with this one, plus a gag reel.

Want in? Just email here for the first package; and here for the second. We'll take entries until 7 tonight (12/20). We'll have a random drawing.

And we won't judge.

Raleigh "Biscuit" shoots for "The View"

A sweet Raleigh Biscuit has great shot at appearing on "The View" tomorrow, but it's not the kind of biscuit you're likely thinking of.

This Biscuit is a kitty cat owned by Katelyn and Justin Bryan of Raleigh, who submitted Biscuit's photo hoping to win a spot in a Fancy Feast commercial which will air Monday on "The View."

Katelyn and Justin adopted Biscuit back in the fall from Alley Cats & Angels, a no-kill cat shelter in Apex.

White House party crasher accuses Whoopi of abuse

This is kind of unreal. Michaele Salahi, half of the White House party crasher duo and participant in the upcoming season of Bravo's "Real Housewives of DC," appeared with her "Housewives" cohorts on "The View" this morning and things got a little out of hand.

President Obama coasts and enjoys "The View"

There were some grumbling about whether President Obama should have appeared on "The View" today.

After watching, I can't say a bit of dignity was visibly lost. The ladies took the event quite seriously; besides bringing in Barbara Walters to give them news credibility, Sherri Shepherd wore her most dignified hair, a big old bun.

Were the questions tough? Nah. But the president didn't talk about whether he wore boxers or briefs. Indeed, I'm pretty sure he accomplished exactly what he wanted. And no, Joy didn't kiss him, and yes, Elisabeth did attempt to go hard.

Reminder: President Obama on "The View"

A reminder that President Barack Obama will be a guest tomorrow morning on "The View," which I think could be pretty interesting.

Unfortunately, Barbara Walters is returning early from her heart surgery recuperation to interview him (it would probably be a better interview if they'd just throw him on the couch and let the other ladies go after him). But we'll see. Hopefully Barbara will share.

"The View" airs at 11am on WTVD.

Clay Aiken will guest host on "The View"

I know this will somehow be interpreted as me making fun of Clay, but I'm willing to take the heat from Claymates so you people can know what's going on: our favorite red-headed "American Idol" finalist is co-hosting "The View" this week.

Clay will fill the guest host spot on Tuesday's show. Bret Michaels is scheduled to perform, so I'm not sure if that means Clay won't sing.

Also on "The View" this week, Barbara Walters makes her first appearance on the show since her heart valve surgery. Walters will appear via Skype on Monday's show.

"The View" airs weekdays on WTVD at 11am.

Updated: Clay Aiken on "The View" today

Are there still any Claymates out there? If so, I hope you have your dvrs set for "The View" this morning when Clay Aiken shows up to chat with the ladies and sing some songs from his new cd, "Tried and True."

UPDATE: Here's a link to ABC to watch Clay's episode online.

Clay sang on "Good Morning America" yesterday. The new cd has songs from the 50s and 60s.

What do you think of Clay's new "look" on the cd?

Round 2: Barbara Walters vs. Mike Tyson

It was one of the most memorable television interviews of all time: Barbara Walters is interviewing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and his wife Robin Givens, and Givens gives up Tyson as being physically abusive right there on national television. Tyson, who sits next to Givens the whole time with wide eyes, looks a little stunned. Shortly after that interview, Tyson goes on a rampage inside their $4.5 million mansion and Givens leaves him.

Twenty-two years later, Walters finally gets her follow-up interview with the former champ.

Raleigh hero appears today on "The View"

The Raleigh home builder chosen as The Ultimate Volunteer in a nationwide contest on "The View" will appear on the show today to talk about his Building Blitz program for Habitat for Humanity.

Tom Gipson began this work in 2002, when he decided to coordinate the building of a dozen homes in one week for Habitat for Humanity, using professional builders and donated materials. After that, Gipson showed groups all over the nation how to do the same thing, and as many as 1,000 homes have been constructed through the organization.

Gipson was chosen  by ABC as a finalist in the contest, and then viewers were able to vote for the winner online.

The News & Observer wrote about Gipson's win last week

"The View" airs on ABC (WTVD) at 11am.

A different view of "Sherri"

I like Sherri Shepherd.

She's been on a couple of sitcoms where she was better than the material, and after a rocky beginning on "The View," she's now hit her stride.

Too bad I don't like "Sherri" as much. (It airs tonight at 7; then moves to Tuesdays at 10.)
