THE NEW FALL SEASON: "The Secret Circle"

NC-born Kevin Williamson executive produces "The Secret Circle" (9 tonight, the CW), about an orphaned girl (Britt Robertson) who moves in with her grandmother (to a town where everybody is remarkable good looking) and learns from other teens in town that she's a witch.

If she combines powers with them, the group may discover what happened to their parents 16 years earlier -- many of whom have died. It's a fun companion to "The Vampire Diaries," although, at least in the first ep, not as flat-out scary or gruesome.

But of course, witches can kill you in more ways than vampires can, so let the body count begin.
