Wimbledon record holder John Isner on Letterman

John Isner, Greensboro native and winner of the longest professional tennis match in history, will present the Top Ten List tonight on "The Late Show with David Letterman."

Isner finally won his match last Thursday 70-68 in the fifth set, after a record 11 hours and 5 minutes, which was spread out over three days. The exhausted Isner was eliminated in the next round at Wimbledon the very next day.

"The Late Show with David Letterman" airs at 11:35 on WRAL.

Letterman making rare live talk show appearance

David Letterman is making a rare live appearance on a talk show Friday morning, when he shows up to chat with Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa on "Live with Regis and Kelly."

Letterman has appeared on that show once before, in 2007 when Regis returned to work after having open heart surgery. Letterman also appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2007. It's hard to come up with another talk show appearance for Letterman (outside of his own show) in recent years, but Regis is a frequent guest on Letterman's "Late Show."

"Live with Regis and Kelly" airs Monday through Friday at 9am on WTVD.

Why was Kiefer Sutherland wearing a dress on "Letterman?"

Why was "24's" macho super agent Kiefer Sutherland wearing a dress during his appearance on Wednesday night's "Late Show with David Letterman?"

You can blame The New England Patriots.

Sutherland's homely frock seemed to take Letterman by surprise, but it made for a funny interview.

What to Watch on Friday: Letterman blackmail plays out on "Law & Order"

Law & Order (8pm, NBC) - In a twist on the Letterman blackmail story, Samantha Bee ("The Daily Show") plays a daytime talkshow host embroiled in scandal with connections to the murder of a freelance journalist.

Dollhouse (9pm, Fox) - Echo and the team travel to Arizona in an attempt to dismantle the Rossum Corporation's mainframe. Series finale is next week!

Medium (9pm, CBS) - Devalos revisits a past horror on the anniversary of his daughter's death, and Allison has dreams that shed new light on the mystery.

The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien (NBC) / The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS) (11:35pm) - These two late night shows have been great all week, and things are unlikely to settle down any time soon. Watch one of these and tape the other.

Letterman zings Tiger: Who said Dave would never be funny again?!

After news of David Letterman's affairs with staffers broke earlier this year, a lot of people said that he'd never again be able to joke about other celebrities caught up in similarly sordid stories.

Wrong.

Here's the self-deprecating talk show host from last night's show poking fun at Tiger Woods. Funny stuff.

Adam Lambert to perform on Letterman show tonight

Oh, will he or won't he? You'll have to tune in to see.

Adam Lambert is scheduled to perform on tonight's "Late Show with David Letterman."

In the wake of the AMA controversy, he could go safe, or since it's late night, the unapologetic glam rocker could kick it up a few notches.

Very opportune scheduling for Dave.

"Late Show" airs at 11:35pm on CBS.

NY Yankees on "Late Show with David Letterman" tonight

New York Yankees Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte and Hideki Matsui will appear tonight on "The Late Show with David Letterman."

The Yankees won their 27th World Series last night in game 6 against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The World Series was a ratings giant for Fox this year. Last night's game dominated with 22.3 million viewers, and had numbers higher than any single World Series game since the 2004 series. This year's series between New York and Philadelphia had overall ratings 40% higher than last year's series between Philadelphia and Tampa Bay.

"The Late Show with David Letterman" airs at 11:35pm tonight on CBS.

Jimmy Kimmel also dating staffer

Since David Letterman's critics are calling for CBS to fire him for having sexual relationships with members of his staff, could Jimmy Kimmel soon be feeling a little heat himself?

It seems Kimmel is in a relationship with Molly McNearney, a writer on his staff, and has been dating her for several months. McNearny was hired as an assistant on the show in 2003, promoted to writer in 2006, and promoted to co-head writer in 2008.

Kimmel is the host and executive producer of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" which airs Monday through Friday at midnight on ABC.

Kimmel says he did not tell jokes about Letterman on his show when Letterman's relationship with Stephanie Birkitt was revealed on October 1.

WarmTV in the Letterman Faceoff

WarmTV faced off against North Raleigh News/Midtown News editor Matthew Eisley today over whether or not talk show host David Letterman should be fired for having sexual relationships with staffers.

I argued that while the trysts are embarrassing for Letterman, they are not fireable offenses. Matthew argued that the relationships compromise Letterman's ability to be funny

Apart from the fact that I'm an "idiot" (I love the intelligent dialogue, people!), where do you guys come down on this?

Letterman: Where's the scandal?

The news broke last night before "The Late Show with David Letterman" even aired: during an earlier taping of the show yesterday, Letterman had admitted to his audience that he had been the victim of an attempted blackmail scheme that would have covered up sexual affairs he'd had with some of his female staffers.

The news is certainly embarrassing -- even humiliating -- for Letterman. But is it a scandal in the same sense as say, John Edwards fathering a love child while running for president? Or Gov. Eliot Spitzer hiring hookers? And yet, "scandal" has been the word used most often today to describe the incident, particularly on morning news shows.

"The Letterman Sex Scandal!"

That tells me I'm supposed to be shocked and outraged. Well, I'm not.
