BET gets back into "The Game"

Just yesterday I was having a conversation with someone about BET's mulitple programming missteps.

But here are two bit of news that show the network may finally be figuring it out.

The Hollywood Reporter says that BET is close to finalizing a deal to produce new episodes of "The Game," the CW series that was cancelled after that network decided to focus on hour-long dramas. The word has been out there for a while, with cast members like Wendy Raquel Robinson, openly talking about the possibility, but now, THR says, BET is set to announce the deal later this month.

Another season of "The Game"?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, BET is in talks with CBS Studios about a new season of "The Game," which was canceled by The CW because it's no longer in the half-hour sitcom business.

BET already runs repeats of "The Game" and "Girlfriends" ("The Game" is a spin-off of that show, which The CW dumped without a suitable ending!) so BET is looking for original episodes.

Apparently Mara Brock Akil had pitched the CW an hourlong version of the show to keep it on The CW in April.

If this came to be, THR reports, new deals would have to be made with the actors because their options have lapsed.
